With one minute left in the game, Ava takes the ball down the field she passes one defender, two defenders, three defenders, takes a shot and makes her very first shot! The parents are cheering, the team is standing in awe of the moment and Coach Justin is so surprised. Ava being the weakling, she surprised herself a little bit too. The team is playing in the Miami Mayhem Tournament and now the girls get to go to Orlando for the state championship because they got first place in the tournament! The team was so exited that they get to go to Orlando, except for the fact that they have to get up at 5:00 in the morning to go to the game.

Ava's alarm buzzes loudly at 5:00 in the morming. She wakes up and remembers that the big game is today. Ava jumps out of bed, grabs her phone, and texts her best friend Amara to make sure she is awake for the game too. Amara texted back and said "Hey girl! I'm so exited for the game I cant wait to win 1st place! :~)". Amara is one of the best players on the team, says Ava and their other best friends, Kendall and Kenzie. Ava gets ready, eats breakfast, gets everything together and got in the car as fast as she could. They took of on the 3 and a half hour car ride to Orlando and Ava fell asleep.

Ava was startled by her mom waking her up for when they arrived at the game. Amara,Kendall, and Kenzie greeted Ava at the car door and the four of them walked to the stadium. Kendall was at every game supporting the team but mostly Kenzie. Everywhere Kendall was she had a book in her hand, followed by the floral side bag she always carried, her hair in a bun, and her black what the girls liked to call (nerd glasses) on. Coach Justin wanted the girls to arrive at the game 45 minutes early so they would have plenty of time to warm up. The team was facing the U12 girls team from Orlando, the Orlando Orcas. The Orlando Orcas were undefeated and the Miami Monarchs (Ava's team) had one loss. The girls were warming up for a very hard match.

The sound of the whistle blew loudly in Ava's ear, Ava received the ball passed it to Amara and Amara ran the ball up the field passes one defender, two defenders, passes to Ava and she shoots and scores! Once again everyone is so surprised. Everyone on the team ran up and gave Ava a big group hug. But the game wasn't close to being over, they were only two minutes in the 1st half and the other team could very easily come back and win. They had to keep fighting harder and harder until the last few seconds of the game. Coach Justin had a lot of faith in the girls but he was still a little bit nervous himself, before last week the girls hadn'even won a tournament before.

It was now the second half and the Monarchs are still up 2 to 0. Ava gets the ball runs past the first defender, the second defender, the third defender, and the third defender trips her and she falls to the ground. Coach Justin sprinted on the field, and Amara came and sat next to Ava she asked her if she was ok, but she was in so much pain she couldn't talk. Coach Jusin carried Ava to the bench and sat her down, and called 911 everyone thought Ava wold be ok, but he wanted to make sure. When the ambulance arrived they said they thought she had broke her left leg but they were going to take her to the hospital to get x-rays. The Orlando Orcas ended up winning because the girls didn't do good without Ava.

When the ambulance arrived at the hospital they took Ava straight back to the x-ray room and it turns out she did break her left leg, but she broke it so badly that they were going to have to do surgery and she would have to get pins in her foot. The doctor thinks when she fell her ankle/leg twisted and she landed on it while it was twisted. The whole team came to see Ava but only two of them could go back to see her at a time, so Amara and Kenzie went to see her first and she was in so much pain that she could barely talk. Ava's surgery was scheduled for the day after she broke her leg. She was so scared about her surgery. She squeezed Kenzie's hand tightly and prayed she would be okay.
