Eddie sits next to his mother's sick bed in the intensive care unit.

Mrs. Thawne is hooked up to a drip. Eddie reaches out and holds her hand. She smiles and looks over to see Iris standing at door entrance. Iris offers a half smile.

"I'm sorry to disturb your moment," Iris begins apologizing but Eddie stops her before she can finish. "Thanks for coming." He ushers Iris inside.

The two share an awkward hug as they try to figure out where their hands should go. Eddie finally gives up and offers her his seat.

"How are you feeling Mrs. Thawne?" Iris asks quietly as she sits down.

"Oh dear, if i'm being honest, not so great right now. But I've got my boy here with me. I have a feeling everything is going to be just fine." Mrs. Thawne replies optimistically as she looks at the two.

Iris admires her positive attitude. She can clearly see why Eddie has such a close relationship with his mom.

The doctor enters with a clipboard in hand. "We need Ms. Thawne extra hydrated for surgery." She adjusts Mrs. Thawne's drip before adding. "In the meantime, I would like to speak with your son about post surgery rehab, if you don't mind."

Eddie turns to Iris and his mom, "I'll be just a moment." He follows the doctor out to her office.

With Eddie gone, Iris becomes slightly uncomfortable. She is caught off guard when Mrs. Thawne asks the last question she would have imagined her to ask.

"Did you ever meet your mother? Eddie mentioned something but didn't quite say."

Iris takes a moment before answering, "She left when I was 3. I guess you could say I did meet her. But, I don't really remember anything about her from back then. But my dad does say I'm the spitting image of her." Iris lets out a nervous giggle.

Mrs. Thawne looks Iris in the eye, "I'm sure that wherever she is, she misses you very much." For a second, Iris almost believes it.

"Why are you still so nice to me? I basically cheated on your son on his birthday of all days and you're acting like nothing ever happened..." Iris asks sincerely.

Mrs. Thawne smirks, "Love is... uh...love is hard, Iris. I've been married for over 35 years and I still struggle with it every single day. Mistakes have been made. Trust me, some of which we've kept hidden... even from Eddie. But one thing has helped us through it all. Honesty. Not our feelings. Feelings, they change all the time. You can't depend on them. But choosing to trust and share everything with your partner is key. Am I mad that you hurt Eddie? He's my only son. Of course. I'm shattered. But, what good can come from a place of bitterness?"

A tear rolls down Iris' face, "God, I hate that I hurt him." Iris wipes her tear stained cheeks.

"Honey, have you seen the way he looks at you? He is enamored by everything that is Iris West. Just, give him time. Okay?" Mrs. Thawne fixes Iris' hair just as a loud sound of metal trays hitting the floor is heard in the hallway.

Nurses run across the hall. Away from the sound. Iris and Mrs. Thawne look at each other as they hear sounds of people screaming in fear.

Iris gets up and inches towards the door to get a peek of the hallway. A nurse runs by her and screams.

"Miss, the hospital is on immediate lockdown. Shut the door and remain inside for your safety."

Iris shuts the door and tries calling Eddie. It goes straight to voicemail.

"I'm gonna go try to and find Eddie. Are you going to be okay here, alone?" Mrs. Thawne nods. With that, Iris runs out the door and shuts the door behind her.
