I sped through the streets of Appleton Hills, yelling at every person that came my way. It was my first day at a new school and while I didn't really care if I was late, I knew my aunt would be slightly disappointed. I had spent the last few years getting suspended and partying a little bit too much and well, aunt Olivia wanted me to at least graduate high school. And who was I to disappoint my only living family member?
I pulled up into the parking lot of the high school and let out a sigh of relief as I saw that the time was 7:50, I still had 10 minutes to spare. I quickly looked through the rear-view mirror to check if my hair looked okay - it was still a wavy, waist length mess, good. I quickly reached for my bag from the passenger seat and got out of the car.
The first thing I noticed about Appleton Hills High was the stares of each clique. You would think that a large town would be used to new people. I noted each clique: the jocks and cheerleaders, the delinquents, the nerds, the church girls, the theatre kids, the singers, and more. I strutted into the school and made my way to administration, I didn't have time for this crap.
'Hi, Veronica Lowe. New kid' I said while smiling at the receptionist.
She jumped, slightly surprised, before perking up and giving me a sweet smile. 'Hello, well aren't you a tall one. How tall are you dear? Just give me a second and while I find your schedule' She rustled through her desk before handing me my schedule and locker number.
'5'11 ma'am. Thank you.' I said, before turning to walk away.
'Hold on, let me find you somebody to show you around!' She exclaimed cheerily.
'Um.. okay' I responded, not really wanting to interact with the other students. Her eyes quickly scanned the area to find someone, before they stopped on a blonde girl.
'Beulah! Oh Beulah!' She shouted loudly.
The girls face quickly turned red as she looked at the source and hurried towards us.
'Good Morning Ms.Clare' She mumbled, looking extremely embarrassed.
'Good Morning Beulah. This is Veronica, she's a new student. Could you please be a dear and show her around?'
'No problem, Ms. Clare.' She turned to me and offered me a shy smile 'Uhm, what's your first class?'
I looked down at my schedule 'Calculus AB' I said with a grin.
'Oh!... That's the same as me. We can go together'
'Lead the way.. Beulah' I replied with a smirk.
As we made our way out of administration and into the hallways, Beulah quietly mumbled something. I stopped and turned towards her, 'What?'
She began to blush as she stuttered out 'I j-just said that I prefer to be c-called Bee, instead of Beulah.'
I stared down at her for a brief moment, wondering why she was stuttering before I shrugged 'Okay Bee.'
She looked relieved and then kept on walking.
Once we made it to class, I quickly made a beeline towards the seat furthest away from the teachers desk. Bee gave me a puzzled look, before following me and taking a seat beside me. As I began to take my things out, the bell rang and the teacher walked in.
'Good morning class. Today we have a new student' Her eyes scanned the room before landing on me 'Hello, I'm Ms. Daron. Please introduce yourself to the class.'
I sighed before saying 'Hey, I'm Veronica'.
Ms. Daron grinned widely and said 'Veronica, why don't you tell us a bit about yourself before we get class started.'
