Chapter 1:
Emma
Tsukio POV
I sat down on the bus, relieved it was a friday, but, then again, it was also the first day of ninth grade... and my first day in America. The busses here were so wierd... and small. i pulled out my manga i had brought from Fukushima, trying to ignore the noise of the middle schoolers. this language, even though i had been studying it scince second year, was still so foreign to me. some words so different i couldn't even begin to comprehend them. i sighed and began to read.
"Your Tsukio, right?"
i looked up at the mention of my name. A girl with silky choclate brown hair with golden streaks stood infront of me. "um, what..?" the girl laughed and repeated her question. i couldn't help but smile. "oh... um, yes."
"well, its mice to meet you! i live down the street. from where your staying." she slid into the seat infront of me, "im Emma!"
i was puzzled for a moment and wondered, are all people in America so direct? i shook my head, then laughed a little. "its nice to meet you, too." i still wasnt exactly sure why she had decided to sit by me, of all people.
Emma smiled at me. "you want me to show you around the school? my brother was on the football team his senoir year, so this isnt anything new to me."
I nodded slightly, realizing i was still grinning like a complete fool. i took a second to compose myself and half-smiled at her "uh, sure!"
We spent the rest of the bus ride talking, and soon i got to know Emma. She was nice, and loved animals- like most girls...
Emma POV
I had know that a Japanese transfer student would be here today, but, as i walked down the ro of seats i got a shock... i didnt expect to see a boy with deep amber eyes, specks of green scattered in the irises and reddish-brown hair! he didnt even look Japanese in my oppinion... he was reading a manga when i decided to itroduce myself. "your Tsukio right?" what a cool name... im jealous...
he looked up, a look of confusion in his eyes, and a very promenint Japanese accent "um, what..?"
"Your Tsukio right?" i asked again, chuckling a little.
"oh... um, yes" he replied, shyly, a hint of red coloring his cheeks. hes blushing!!! i thought, smiling.
"well, its nice to meet you! i live down the street from where your staying!" i mentally scolded myself. i don't even know this guy and i just told him where i live!!! whats the matter with me?! i sat down in the seat infront of him, turning around to face him. there was something different about him... i just couldn't figure it out. "im Emma!"
He smiled at me and replied softly, "its nice to meet you, too."
i asked him if he wanted me to show him around the highschool. scince Daniel had been on the football team, i pretty much knew the place like the back of my hand.
He nodded then looked down like he was embarrased. "uh... sure!"
