🌹 Welcome My Beautiful Crimefighters 🌹
How do I even begin? Well, I guess I need to start from the very beginning. Join me along for the ride, I promise you won't regret it!
The end very end of 2014 (December). Is when I originally began to think of becoming a writer. At school, I was known for dropping out of sports or just things in general, because they weren't who I was. Vividly I remember writing MY very first book on the iPad notes app while listening to the same song over and over again. One month after that watching Teen Titans became my thing to do every day. All I wanted to do is come home and watch it all day long, non-stop.
I was beyond obsessed. When I finished the last season of the show which was in the beginning of February. I stumbled upon a Robin and Raven Fanfiction, and let me just say wow! It seemed like right then and there that was my 'calling'.
Writing helped me so much in life, but at the same time, it did hurt me. And I hate to say that but it's the truth and I don't want to lie to you. As I was trying to find my path I went through tons of usernames to where it's ridiculous.
Over the first few months, I joined, I was so excited to see people reading my books (A Shoulder To Cry On). 10-20 views. It was a happy moment in my life! I laugh back it now because I realize how far I've come in my writing career.
By the time 2017 came I had roughly 360 followers, which was really good for a person that had basically just started. However, the popularity of my superhero books increased to where I now have 125K on Gateway. It's a good thing but it comes with a price. People will be rude and people don't read the disclaimers before reading.
More than half of my books were written when I was only 12 and can I just say 12-year olds believe they can write but they truly can't not until they have become more mature. It's just the harsh truth.
When it finally reached 2019! My following had increased to 2 thousand and I love every single person! It's getting to the point where I'm getting offers left and right by companies, but I turn them down, because I'm not writing for profit.
I'm writing because I love it.
I'm writing because other's enjoy my writing.
I'm writing because it's who I am as a person.
Never give up on a dream.
The more you pursue it then the closer you are to it.
If you're able to shut off everything around you to where it's just you and your writing device or paper/pencil.
Then you are a writer!
If you want to pursue your writing career then here are some tips to get started off with!
Tips:
Tip #1: Reads and Followers
Reads are really hard to get, if you're first starting off, so don't believe you're going to get 1M straight away. The truth is you're not. BUT you can get reads by Private Messaging someone and ask POLITELY for them to read your book. Don't be rude because then that just looks bad. Gaining followers is what I struggled on for years and I still do (even though to people starting off it's a huge following). You need to follow people you have things in common with. If you like superheroes or BTS whatever floats your boat. You'll get discovered some day, sweetie! Just be patient and keep your head held high!Tip #2: Editing
Editing books are always the hardest part to me. I've never fully edited a book! I've made some very rookie mistakes along with funny ones. I remember someone commenting on my book and saying "what kind of school do they go to?" I didn't know what this person meant until I look at the story. The line was "He's so rude, I'm surprised he doesn't wear a sign that says "I'm rude!". Instead it read "He's nude.". Haha! Oops! Edit your books even though it's a lot of trouble from time to time, it's a good habit to start!Tip #3: Cover Graphics
Ah! It's cover time! The most fun and stressful time of creating a book. When I first started I used the Wattpad app (which at the time created decent covers), but I discovered apps on my computer and iPhone that allow you to create a beautiful cover. I create all my covers and I create some for other people too. It's not easy but you can either do apps or ask someone to do it for you!Tip #4: A Dream is a DREAM!
A dream is a dream, and people always want to pursue their dreams. As a writer I've had people comment and tell me that they can't see me as a writer. And that's made me very weary of how many people in my personal life know I'm a writer. BUT now I can say I AM A WRITER! Look at yourself in a mirror and tell yourself that you are a writer and that you can do anything you set your mind to!
**************
I believe I covered mostly everything! IF any of you have questions for me please comment them! This is just my personal experience!
****************P.s: I should take my own advice about editing because I haven't edited this chapter! Sorry for any grammar mistakes!
