"Beatrice!!! Have you been listening at all to what I'm saying?"

I am brought out of my reverie by this sudden outburst from my twin brother Caleb. The last thing I re-call before zoning out is him "discussing", or rather should I say blabbering, about some dead man's history with me.

"Don't call me Beatrice. It's Tris!"

"Geez! Fine! You changed your name shortly after we arrived here, oh! & let me recall when was that? When we were 5. Bea! Our parents gave us these names because they love us! They wanted us to remember who we really are even if we are miles away from here in Muscat." He said pretty much going into auto drive drama mode.

"Shut up Caleb! I'm 16 not 5!..." I snapped but before I could continue my phone gave a "beep", signaling the fact that i received a new message in my inbox.

I pick up the mobile to see that it is from my best friend, Christina. I quickly excused myself from the table and headed towards my bedroom to change for school. On the way I answered her back.

(Tris-T, Christina-C)

T: hi Chris!

C: hey girl. Today is the day. We are officially 11th graders now.

T: yeah!!! :):):)

C: ohhhh! U know what else this means???....

T: oh no! No! No! No! No!..... I'm not going shopping with you.

C: hell yeah your going! There is a weekend party at the Pedrad brothers' house today. They say one of their childhood friends are back here.

Remember that guy who went the day you came hence all of us meeting you at the airport???

T: yeah!!! It was some guy named Four or something. Yeah?

C: yeah!!! Four. I'm so excited to meet him again. It's been forever.

Okay so you are going to the party with me! Okay? Okay.

T: Oh my Gods! Okay. Geez.

C: yayyyyy! Okay so remember to get to school in time. It starts at 7:00am. And tomorrow is a weekend....

T: Okay. Hmm... Thursday is weird day to open school when Friday is the weekend.

C: yeah I know right?

T: hey gtg. I need to get ready.

Bye.

C: bye girl.

(A/N in Muscat, Oman the week starts from a Sunday and ends on a Thursday. Friday and Saturday are the weekends.)

I put down my phone as I enter my room or may I call it what my friends call it, "the ballroom bedroom"! It's a funny name they use. But it looks kinda like that.

When you enter the room your eyes catch the big window which run from the floor to the ceiling, from the left wall to the right wall. The walls were peach colored with a paint splatter design. To the left side of the room is my queen sized bed. The bed is covered with turquoise colored sheets and even my dresser is turquoise in color. Moral of the story: I love turquoise color.

I walk into my walk in closet and find my school uniform. It's simple but cute, that is a cream colored shirt with the school logo and a black skirt which comes down to my mid-thigh.

Our school is divided into five factions. The Abnegation or the selfless wear gray, the Candor wear whiten black stripped and value honesty, the Erudite as in the intelligent wear blue, the Amity or the kind wear yellow and red stripped and lastly the Dauntless or the brave wear black. The shirt was common in all to signify the motto of the school - "unity in diversity".

We had to chose one of these factions according to the aptitude test results we had to take a year back. My brother was an Erudite, so he chose that and wears blue and fake glasses.

But I fit into Abnegation, Dauntless and Erudite, I.e. I'm divergent. It's rare but it exists.(even my friend Uriah is divergent)

My parents wanted me to chose Abnegation. But,

I chose Dauntless.

I'm Selfish. I'm Brave.

I'm Divergent.
