When Regina kept threatening Emma to leave Storybrooke she didn't listen. Emma kept wanting to stay because Henry was there. Emma was almost pushed over the edge when Mary Margret had been accused of killing Kathryn. Emma was able to prove her innocence but that was enough for Emma. She was done with Storybrooke and all the stuff that had been happening. Henry wanted Emma to stay so bad so that way she could break the curse and be the savior but no one believed her. Emma decided to make peace with Regina and follow her wish, which was to leave. She left Storybrooke and everything went back to normal. Kathryn was home with David, Mary Margret was a teacher who wished she could have true love but could never find it, and Regina had custody over Henry letting the Dark Curse run its course. Of course Regina was happy to see that Emma left and she is interested to see what happens now without Emma here to fix things.
Mary Margret would see David around town and somehow felt connected to him. But she knew that she would never be able to have him because he was already married. David and Kathryn made many efforts to make their marriage work. They went to counseling and really put in time to make their marriage last. Regina wanted these two together so she went to extra lengths to help them out. Regina would make sure Archie, their counselor, knew what kinds of things to suggest to them in order to make it work. Regina began to notice Mary Margret peeking around. She had that lost love look in her eyes and Regina had saw that too.
Regina made a special visit to Miss Blanchard's house and warned her to stay away. Regina explain all the time and effort that the Nolans were putting into this marriage in order to make it work. Mary Margret acted all innocent because she didn't see the harm in watching from a far. But Regina kept reiterating how hard they are working and how easy it would be for her to come between the two of them. So eventually Mary Margret just gave up on trying to get Regina to see that she isn't doing anything wrong. She agreed to stay away from the Nolan family as much as possible.
