*Chapter 3: Ready for Experience *
Ten minutes.
That is how long we have been sitting here not saying anything. Just sitting here looking at the seats in front of us. If I thought today was going abnormally well, I was wrong. It seems all of my luck for a year has been used up in those first couple of hours. I was about to pull out a book for something to do when suddenly he cleared his throat; I looked up quickly to see that he was looking at me.
" So... Meredith... how are you?" he asks.
There is a slight smile on his face as a deep blush spreads across his face. I can't help but laugh at how cute he looks.
"I'm good," I said with a small giggle.
He gave me a look of complete bewilderment as I continued to laugh but soon joined in himself.
"Okay" he said, "Maybe that wasn't the best conversation starter"
"Maybe not" I said, "But it was cute"
I froze all of a sudden as I realized what I just said. Holy Crap! Since when did I say things like that to guys? A blush quickly made its way across my face and I looked down picking at a piece of thread on my shirt.
"Well I'm glad you thought so," he said breaking the silence that was only adding to my embarrassment with every second.
I look up at him only to see the biggest and most beautiful smile I have ever seen spread across his face. My stomach twisted and what can only be described as a herd of butterflies erupted in my stomach. Ding Ding Ding, we have a winner! This was by far the greatest smile I have ever seen. Just looking at it made me want to smile and leap into his arms.
Woah!
Where the heck did that come from? God, keep yourself in check Mer.
"Excuse me ma'am" someone said awakening me from my internal rambling. I looked up to see the flight attendant standing right beside me. "Would you like a pillow and blanket for the flight?" she asked.
Feeling a bit dazed I starred at her for a few seconds before giving her a slight nod. She handed me one of each before turning to Tyler and asking him the same. He seemed to have a certain glow to his face as he said yes. He looked the exact opposite from the moody and rude guy I meet not even three hours ago. This couldn't be because of me, could it?
Oh good god, my brain was becoming more egotistical by the minute. Of course it wasn't because of me.
Stupid little girl.
With that I started to fix my pillow and blanket into a comfortable position.
"Do you want to watch a movie?" Tyler suddenly asked gesturing to the small screen in the seat in front of me.
I gawked at him for a minute. Now I know that was no where near close to an invitation on a date but it felt as close as one could get on an airplane. I gave him a nod along with a small smile, which earned me an even bigger smile from him.
God what was up with all this smiling? We probably looked like two people pumped high with drugs or alcohol or something.
He quickly leaned forward to grab a pair of headphones that were in his bag and plugged them in. He offered me one, which I took hesitantly. Once he was all set up, he seemed to realize that he hadn't chosen a movie yet. He gestured toward the screen as way of saying that I should chose the movie. Great, I thought. He's going to put all the pressure on me to make this decision. I like movies that have romance and cute little moments, which I'm sure he would hate. I quickly tried to look through the different movies, trying to find one that would not show how super lame I really am. But as soon as I saw my favorite movie of all time, all thought processing went out the window as I quickly chose it. Not daring to look up I watched the screen intently as "Don't You Forget About Me" by Simple Minds began to play.
