Presence

The noise echos throughout the apartment. I look at Blair sending her a small smile as I walk over to the front door. I swing the door open, and am faced with a pair of light brown eyes.

"Hi" the man says.

I know that I have seen him before, but I don't know where.

"Hi." I say awkwardly.

"I was just...I wanted to welcome you to the building." he stutters.

I watch him play with the hem of his shirt trying as hard as he can not to make eye contact with me.

"Umm. Thanks" I reply.

Blair comes over to the door and looks over my shoulder.

She looks at Zayn but doesn't say anything. Her and Zayn share a knowing look but don't say a word. We all stand there for a few seconds until Zayn finally says bye and quickly disappears down the hall.

Blair walks away from the door and back into the kitchenette. She sits on top of the white counter and pulls out her phone.

"What was that. It was like you two knew each other or something." I say to Blair.

"It was nothing. We don't know each other. Never seen him before in my life." She says quickly.

The whole apartment is quiet except for the clicking of Nicole's phone every once and a while and the occasional bang on the wall coming from the apartment next to mine.

I don't know what the banging noise next door is and I don't plan on finding out.

My phone vibrates in my hand indicating that I have an incoming call.

I slide the green circle to the right to answer and hold my phone up to my ear.
