Two couples were traveling to Lake Michigan to stay at a cabin they rented for the weekend.Trinity was the sweet, soft-spoken good girl dressed like a movie star most of the time. When she heard michigan would have "a little rain" she threw on her white overszed faux coat, that stopped at her calves and slicked her curls back into a super sleek and shiny bun. But of course not forgetting to smear on her scarlett red lipstick. Her image was different from her personality. She was bashful with everything . Her traveling buddy slash bestfriend , Gail, was the complete oppsite. She wore mostly jeans and graphic tees but she was the bad influence and the one willing to party at any moment. She gets Trinity out of her shell from time to time, mainly to raise some cane at others' expense. Trinity's boyfriend, Luke, has been best friend with Gail's boyfriend, Dante for some years now. Gail called their little group "The Swirl Squad" because Trinity was "chocolate" while Luke was "vanilla" and of course Gail and Dante being the oppsite. Luke resembled Henry Cavill and Dante favored Lance Gross.

They only travelled in a 1964 Volkswagen van, torquoise with curtains in the back windows. Dante drove while Gail sat in the passenger seat while the other two love birds sat in the back. Trinity read "It" by Stephen King off her kindle as Luke stared attentively like a kindergartener listening to his teacher. "Can you not. You always read that scary shit when we're travelling or when it's late as hell." Gail rolled her eyes. "Shh!" Luke put his finger over his lip and let Trinity continue. Gail glared at him with evil eyes but he didn't pay any attention. Trinity continued reading for the next hour while Luke rested his head on her lap."My phone says there's a diner 10 miles ahead." Gail said aloud. "I'm glad someone said something." Luke said sleepily as Trinity massaged his scalp, shutting off her kindle. Gail and Dante talked about what they wanted to do when they got to the cabin and seen the beautiful lake. Luke joined in, talking about wanting to have a race with the two jet skis they rented as well. Trinity stared out the window. There was an owl in a tall tree staring right at her. It's head spun around, continuing to watch her as they drove down the road. "Babe?" she heard Luke's voice say. She looked down and met his blue-green gaze. "You alright?" "Oh..." she blinked a couple times. "...yeah. That owl...it was pretty." She shrugged, not knowing what to say. "Oh...okay. Well can you get back to rubbing my scalp." He snapped his fingers playfully and then flinched when he felt her hand lift from his head. She chuckled, leaning down and kissed him. He held the back of her head to kiss her harder. "Mh Mh." She said pulling away when he tried to stick his tongue in her mouth. "C'mon." Luke groaned. "Nope. You can wait. You know how I feel about PDA." She shook her head and looked at Gail and Dante, who pretended they didn't hear anything." "W-wh...fuck them." he threw up his hand, laying back against her chest as she wrapped her legs over his. He grabbed a blanket and covered her feet. "We heard that." Dante chuckled. "Just give him some. We won't look." Gail joked, but it was no telling when it came to her sometimes. "Speak for yourself." Dante said fixing the rearview mirror to face the back, only to have Gail slap his arm.

About 6 miles down the road, Trinity's face was drawn a blank stare. There the owl was again. Staring at her with it's buldging eyes and rotating head. Her breathing halted and her chest tightened. She felt paralyzed and couldn't pull her eyes away from the owl's gaze. She couldn't even blink. And that wasn't even the weird part. It was a pure white owl. The ones that are only seen during winter time. But it was the beginning of summer. What the hell was it doing out? She felt Luke shuffle in her lap, bringing her back to reality. "Where are we?" Luke asked irritated. "GPS keeps saying we've arrived..." Gail looked around. "...but it's nothing but trees. "She typed in "Diners" again. "But didn't it just say 4 miles ahead?" Trinity scrunched her eyebrows. "Yeah but that was like 15 minutes ago. 4 miles isn't that long." Trinity stared blankily at the back of Gail's head. Dante looked back at Trinity, who's eyes were dull. "You okay?" he asked , looking back at the road. Luke sat up, placing both her feet on his lap. "What's wrong?" he asked softly, his expression adorable. Gail was too concerned about food to notice Dante and Luke trying to see what was going on with Trinity." 15 minutes?" She asked, her mouth barely moving. "Yeah?" Luke replied and looked at Dante, who looked at him. She looked out the window at the peak of the trees, taking the risk of being hypnotized by the white owl once again. But it wasn't there. "Baby..." Luke said softly, rubbing her ankle. She pulled her coat closed as she felt a harsh tingle penetrate her spine. "...you okay?" She nodded. "Look at me." She looked at him with an expression he had never seen before. "What's wrong?" She glanced over at Dante, who was turning back to the wheel. "Nothing." She looked back at Luke's beautiful gaze. The only gaze she wanted to be captivated by. "W-what...what's going on?" Gail finally coming back to reality and looked back at Luke and Trinity. "No-nothing Gail." Luke replied, still staring at Trinity who stared back with a fading expression. Gail looked at Dante, who shrugged and continued driving but then his eyes widened with excitement. "There it is!" Everyone looked ahead there was a diner that seemed to appear literally out of nowhere. And in the background they could see a small town. Trinity didn't know her stomach was in knots until she fianlly started to relax. "Finally! I'm starving." Luke sounded as happy as a kid in a candy store. He looked over at Trinity, who's back was now facing him. As soon as the van stopped in front of the diner, she threw the door open and jumped out. "Hey hey hey!" Luke hopped out and grabbed her coat. "What's the rush?" he pulled her back into a warm embrace, thanks to his lumberjack flannel.
