STILL A FLASHBACK
"Hey sis! Can you help me with something?" I text Lyks.
A few seconds later I get a text back from Lyks: "Of course sis! What do you need help on? If its with the calculus homework, your on your own coz I have no clue what to do with that one."
"Ummm...it's not school related, more like I need your help because I want to get a haircut and thought you could suggest a style for me?" I answer her back with much apprehension.
The next thing I know my phone rings and its Lyks. "OMG! Are you asking me for a makeover? Say yes, say yes, say yes....pleaaaaaase?"
"Yes Lyks. I'm asking you for a makeover." I say.
And the shrieking to high heaven starts. She is way too excited about this. I'm getting scared.
"Omigosh! This is going to be way better than getting you ready for Junior prom."
Oh great! What have I done?
I was Lyka's "project" in my getting ready for the prom last year for junior year. She had my dress, hair, accessories and everything else planned out for me. Heck, it was a good thing that my friend Diego actually asked me to prom.
The next thing I know Lyka has made plans for us to spend practically the whole day on Saturday at some spa so we can get pampered as part of my makeover. She decides that it would be a girls' day for all five of us BAC girls.
Saturday comes and the girls come over to pick me up in Chan's van. I tell my mom that the girls and I are going out and she just said for me to have fun and asks if I need money. I don't want to tell my mom of my makeover plan since I plan to use my allowance money anyways and most importantly, I don't want her to get overly excited.
The girls' excitement over my makeover is contagious. By the time we get to the spa I am excited as well.
For the next few hours I'm submitted to a full body massage and brown sugar body scrub, followed by a mani-pedi, eyebrow waxing and shaping.
Damn! Who knew all this was part of a makeover? I was thinking I only needed a haircut. I have to admit that the full body massage and body scrub was pretty relaxing. I might do that again soon.
For some reason they don't want me to see myself in the mirror until my haircut is done and I'm wearing an outfit that Lyks bought for me. I did not even ask her to do that and she bought one for me anyways because she said I will never agree to it if I went shopping with her. Now, I'm really scared!
My haircut and makeup is finally done and Lyks hands me a bag with the clothes inside. She takes me to a dressing room that has the mirror covered.
Figures!
I take out the clothes and put them on. Its a cream colored cropped t-shirt and black lace shorts. Ok, she's right. I would not have picked these out for myself. Then again, I know nothing about fashion. I put the clothes on and she also hands me a pair of black ballerina flats to complete the look. I have to admit that the whole outfit is pretty comfy.
Slowly I open the dressing room door and step out of the room to where they were waiting.
"Holy sh*t!" says Chan.
"Whoa!" says JDee.
"Oooh girl!" says Rod.
"Watch out boys, coz here she comes!" screams Lyks.
Their reaction kinda freaks me out since I still have not seen myself in the mirror.
"What? Do I look okay?" I ask them.
No one answers me but JDee covers my eyes and leads me towards a full length mirror at the other side of the room. Geez, my friends are really into this whole dramatic reveal and stuff.
We stop and she tells me to open my eyes while she takes her hand off from covering my eyes.
I'm looking at the mirror and theres a girl looking at me. She has long, layered, glossy, straight hair that curls at the ends. Her complexion is even and bright. Her skin looks dewy and soft. She's pretty!
I reach out my hand towards the mirror and then touch my face to make sure that indeed it is my reflection that I'm looking at. My friends laugh at my reaction/expression.
Tears start to form in my eyes and they all rush to me and ask why I'm crying.
"I look like a girl!" I say.
"Well, because you are! Were we supposed to transform you into some cute guy or something?" snaps Chan.
"N-no, its just that I never thought I would look pretty like you guys" I stammer.
"Baby girl, you've always been pretty" consoles JDee. "Its just that you are now literally coming out of your shell in front of us."
Say what? Now I'm a freakin' clam? I think to myself.
"Thanks you guys! I think it will take time for me to get used to this new look, but its slowly growing on me." I tell them.
"Hey girls the guys want to know if we wanna meet them at Cafe Picollo for dinner. You guys up for it?" asks Chan.
We all decide that a day of pampering can make a girl hungry so we hop into the van and make our way out to Cafe Picollo to meet the BAC boys for dinner.
At Cafe Picollo
"Dude, where are those girls? I'm starving already" complains Franc.
"They're on their way. They spent the whole day doing some spa thing" says Sandi.
"Let's just order already and then they can add more stuff when they get here" suggests JCo.
"Whoa! Who is that hottie with them? She looks familiar though" claims Basti.
Everyone turns around towards the window to watch the girls climb out of the van towards the restaurant entrance.
Maricris' POV
"Hey guys! Sorry it took us a while to get here. The traffic was horrible" I say to all of them.
The guys are quiet and just stare at me with their jaws dropped.
I stare back at them with my eyebrows all scrunched up.
The girls are behind me and don't say a word but are obviously enjoying the reactions that my new look is getting.
Ok, this is kinda freaky!
"Hoy! What's wrong with you guys?" I ask them.
"Raz? Is that you?" asks Franc tentatively.
"Uh yeah, who else would it be?" I ask him back. By this time all the girls take a seat already but they are still watching the guys and their reactions.
The rest of the guys are stil staring at me in disbelief.
Damn! Was I that ugly before?
"Hi beautiful!" whispers Oz, but enough for all of us to hear.
Holy Sh*t I feel myself turning red!
All of a sudden everyone starts laughing and catcalling at Oz and I.
"Dude, get off the seat. Raz is going to sit there." says Oz to Sandi as he tries to shove Sandi away from the seat next to him.
