going back on social media wasn't the greatest idea. the amount of hashtags trending while the notifications flood in was stressful. no matter how many times they've tried to ignore it, something popped up.

mark's been scrolling through his feed for hours and all he saw were comments from 'i miss sicheng.' to 'i'm glad he's dead, now nct can do better.' he hated how ruthless the fans could be. no wonder sicheng never wanted to be on social media.

the boy was never close to sicheng but he loved him like an older brother. anyone younger than him thought he was the cute older brother. sicheng was always so positive filled with so much happiness but guess the younger was wrong; it was only a shield with lies hidden beneath.

it was only two days after the funeral and everything was...different.

everyone was either away doing their own thing or trying to move on. frankly, mark's in between. he doesn't necessarily understand why this happened but then on the other hand, he's trying his best not to think about it so he can move on.

the boy's worried about yuta though, he knows how much sicheng meant to him and how losing the other put him deep in a dark tunnel.

til this day mark remembers reading the letter sicheng wrote for dream. it's painful to think about but he can't help but to whirl back to the past.

*flashback*

dancing is exhausting. as much as mark loves it, it sucks so much energy out of the poor boy. at least today was Friday, he could finally get some sleep.

not only was today Friday but it felt off. the younger couldn't quite understand why his mind was telling him that but it sorta worried him. sicheng wasn't there so hopefully it has nothing to do with him.

reaching his and dreams dorm, he swiped the key card before walking in to spot.....a letter?

'what the hell?' mark thought, cautiously walking towards the neatly placed envelope. it's rare for them to receive mail but a letter? now that's odd.

opening it, mark recognized the handwriting instantly.

sicheng.

while reading, the younger had tears pouring down his cheeks, he couldn't believe what he was reading.

"Dear Dream,

Hey, kiddos, you're probably wondering why you're receiving this as one whole letter instead of individually and that's because I'm not going in full detail of why I'm writing this because you're young and you shouldn't be going through with what I've been going through but anyways I'll begin. You all mean a lot to me even if I'm not entirely close with you all. You're all so welcoming towards me which I couldn't thank you enough, you treated me like I was apart of the team even if I wasn't really apart of anything. Thank you. Renjun I want you to know that I will never forget the moments we spent together and how much you helped me with just everything, you're so caring as well as the others but I'm gonna miss you jun. hell, I'm gonna miss you all so much but promise me one thing, never forget me and keep dreaming big.

Ps. Jeno & Jaemin please take really good care of jun for me, I trust you both to never let him get hurt.

I love you all and thank you once again.

Goodbye, you seven.
Sincerely, Sicheng."

it took a second for mark to register what he just read but before he could do anything, the rest of dream walked in.

"woah woah mark what's up?" hyuck asked, rushing over to the boys side. waiting for his response, hyuck diverted his eyes to the letter the other was clenching.

the others were just watching this unfold not really knowing what's gotten mark so worked up.

"r-read this." the older was hesitant about letting the others read it because he thought they weren't ready but it wouldn't be fair for them to find out last minute.

right before anyone could grab the letter, renjun stepped up and took it. a small gasp could be heard from the boy sparking the interest of the rest.

"w-what?" renjun softly spoke, beginning to sob in disbelief. noticing how quick his mood changed, the rest decided to read the letter and well, they ended up sobbing in each other's arms.

"is he going to be okay?" jisung questioned, waiting for someone to give an answer he was looking for. unfortunately there were no answers, there were only cries and sniffles that echoed throughout their room.

*flashback over*

quickly wiping away a tear, mark stood up sharply exhaling before laying on his bed.

'it's almost Friday' he thought, remembering that the first group meeting was just days away. mark checks in with the rest of dream once in a while but they seem to be handling the situation differently.

some nights mark has trouble sleeping so he climbs in hyuck's bed to feel at peace, he loves the feeling of the younger's hair tickling his face whenever he snuggles his head into the boys neck.

not wanting to think about anything else, the older wraps himself in his blanket getting comfy in bed before drifting off to a somewhat peaceful slumber.
