"You're going to lose what's most precious to you today."
A woman in shabby clothes sped past with her strange words barely audible through the noise of the city waking up. Victor at first paid no mind until she turned around grabbing his shoulder and pointing directly at him. Again she spoke.
"You can't protect the ones you care about this time. Today your palace will fall." The black haired man stared at her questioning what she was talking about. But instead of playing what he assumed to be some strange new beggar fad, he simply turned on his heel wrenching his arm free from her grip and moved forward ignoring her pleas to listen.
"You don't have to believe me, but the prophet is in danger."
Victor stopped and turned around with a miniscule amount of doubt creeping in his mind. The prophet by itself would mean nothing if it weren't for the fact that evoler society was now on it's way to becoming a normal thing as well as code names for those who did have some strange super human power. Considering that his one and only wife had an evol that let her see the future, he now had reason to at least listen to this woman. How could she even know what Evol MC? If this was some stupid prank someone is going to pay. He did not have time to deal with stupid theatrics.
"If I assume even for a second you hold any truth in your words? Why should I listen to you? How do you know? See I have trust issues with random strangers approaching me on the street telling me my family is in danger."
Her eyes flashed in momentary fury before it disappeared into a cold calm gaze.
"You don't have to believe me, but if anything happens the blood is on your hands."
With that she walked off leaving Victor stunned but more than anything pondering over who this woman is and what she knew. There was no point in worrying about it now, better to just get to work and have Goldman look into the meaning of the prophet and what it had to do with his wife. He walked into the first floor office ignoring the wave of thirsty secretaries that always guarded the door like buzzards. "We need to hire more men." The thought sounded promising. Men would easier to deal with rather than crazy women everyday anyways.
"Victor you have a video call on the monitor." Goldman was waiting outside of his boss's office looking clean cut as usual with the news.
"I was told to tell you it was a surprise sir." The messenger snickered with his job done and opened the door to let Victor in and be by himself.
"Before you go Goldman, I need you to look into the prophet for me."
"Will do boss."
Tired of today as he was, Victor booted up the computer to see his daughter behind the screen. He should have known this little angel would do something like this today since kindergarten ended and she was enjoying summer break.
"Hi Tori. Why are you calling papa so early? Is everything ok."
"Of course everything is ok daddy, I just wanted to see your face since you left without saying goodbye. Mom was pretty mad too. She said just because you have to leave early doesn't mean you can't spare a second to say bye."
Victor sighed knowing that MC did not care one bit about missing one goodbye and his daughter was telling another one of her tall tales.
"Well what do you want hun? papa has lots of work to catch up on."
"Why catch up on work when you can talk to me? Plus I want to tell you about my dream."
Sigh. " You have 15 minutes to talk and then I have to prepare for a meeting Tori." He couldn't really be mad at her though. He had been just a tad busy lately.
" Ok so I had this dream that Mom and I plus that thing inside her were in some really dark room and we couldn't get out. Mom was crying and there was this really loud voice talking about exercising some demon or something. Why would you excersie a demon daddy? Do they need to lose weight or something?"
"You mean exorcising. It means to get rid of basically. So is that it?"
"Well if you wouldn't have interrupted me then you would already know that I can't really remember the rest. You're so disrespectful."
"Watch who you're talking to Tori." The girl looked closer at the screen and scrunched up her face staring intently at her father while he looked sternly back at her. She knew how he felt about sass.
" I am watching, but you're the one who taught me not to interrupt so I don't know why you're getting mad." She huffed and broke the staring contest looking very much disgruntled now. As much as Victor rejoiced that she wasn't an airhead, moments like this made him wish her personality wasn't so close to his own.
"Fine anything else?"He asked her curtly. Gods she was getting such an attitude.
"Yea, why what does the word prophet mean? When I woke up I felt like I heard that word right beside me. Weird right? Thought it was a ghost."
For the first time in his life, the calm CEO looked utterly flabbergasted. Where had Tori heard such a word? Could it be she dreamt it and is mistaking someone for saying it? Does that mean that woman from earlier actually knew something?
"Yo, earth to person who says they're my dad? What does it mean?"
"It just means someone who knows the future?"
With that in mind she blurted out "Like Mom."
"Exactly, now darling I have to get ready for this meeting, please behave and don't sass your mother today. She probably isn't feeling well."
"You go make that bread pappa, and I read in a book that there's an equal reaction to every action, so my sass is just a response to yours. And if Mom isn't feeling well it's because of brother. You should tell him not to make her sick, I'm not the one who made brother nor is it my fault that mom is sick."
"Stop rambling and go play or whatever kids do."
"If I leave you alone will you tell me where babies come from? I have wondered that since you guys told me mom was having one and that it was inside her."
Victor hurriedly shushed her and ended the video chat. Well that happened way sooner than he thought it would. He prayed she wouldn't pester MC with her curiosity of babies. He was also glad he wasn't home right now since he had no way of answering her. How does a parent respond to that kind of question to a seven years old? Is this what being a parent was? Answering questions that really shouldn't be answered? Plus when did his offspring become so smart as to know about laws of motion. So many questions and not enough answers. That call had only lasted for about five minutes, but it felt like eternity, which is why he was surprised when there was a knock at his door and Goldman appeared.
"Sir I dug up some info but it's not much."
"Just tell me what you found out about the profit?"

I hope those who read this enjoy and I had alot of fun writing the dialogue between Victor and Tori. I truly planned this to be about 2 or 3 parts, but it's looking like it might be at least 4 now that my brain is in overdrive with all the possibilities. Look forward to more snarky remarks from the tiny Victor in training and who do you think the prophet is? Could it actaully be MC or someone else entirely. What's it got to do with Victor. Questions with no answers. Seriously though I think I am going to have a lot of fun writing this. I will update tonight with a 2nd chapter and then perhaps another tomorrow. No promises.
