        Tik tok! Tik tok! The clock is running. 1 week. What can I do in 7 days? 168 hours, the situation is getting worse. What will happen in 10,080 minutes? 604,800 seconds left, the world will soon to collapse. Think fast. Do something. Let’s resolve the problem.

        A legend says that there is a tree that keeps the world intact, and that is the World Tree. The World Tree is the highest tree you’ll ever find in the earth and no human structure can surpass its height but for some reason, no one knows where the World Tree is.       

        Kriiing! Kriiing! “Ugh! What the hell is ringing?” I move my hand from left to right. Open my left eye, then the right. I Look at my side table and stare at the alarm clock. And, I knew it! It’s 7:00 in the morning, I only have 1 hour. I prepare myself and run to my car then start the engine. I drive fast and, “Bullshit! What’s the matter with the road?! “I’m late!” I decided to leave my car and call someone to pick it up then I run fast. I arrive in the office exactly 8:30 and I start my job accordingly. After 3 ½ hours it’s time for a break. I and my officemates will go to a restaurant. As I look outside the window of my car, I noticed a bunch of astounded people. The road has many cracks! Is there something wrong? Beep! Beep! I look in front and the signal light says go then I started driving. We arrived at the restaurant and eat our lunch. “Breaking News! The world is now facing an unusual phenomenon which causes traffic in many roads. The experts said that the surface of the earth is slowly collapsing. This is Jess Min, reporting.” Someone shouted outside and got everyone’s attention. As we look and search through our eyes where the voice came from, we saw nothing but a big crack outside. “How did that happen?” I whispered. I go near the crack and saw a deep trench, my eyes got bigger for I almost saw the Earth’s mantle. We are all going to fall. What can we do? My officemates call me and say that it’s already 1:00, it’s time to go back to the office. We decided to walk instead of riding a car. Anyway, tomorrow is my birthday. I decided to go to a market and buy some ingredients for the food I am going to cook. The next day, I invited them to eat dinner in my house. I open the television and turn it to News TV. As we watch, the cracks are getting bigger and the people are unruly. The trucks are falling into the trench. The surface seems like a paper soak in a water. “Rico, the food!” I run to the kitchen and move my hand upward which made the casserole float in the air. I look around and thank God because nobody saw it. I sigh as a sign of relief. The hours passed by, the night came. While watching, what happened hours ago is still flashing on my mind. My ability to move things upward and make them float which is called Gravity Manipulation. In exchange for my power, I have an illness called Narcolepsy. A neurological disorder that inhabits my brain’s ability to regulate sleep-wake cycles normally. And right now, I my eyes are slowly closing.

        Saturday morning, I’m awake now. I look outside through my window and saw things burnt out, people killing people, foods in the market being thrown in the trench and plants eaten by human beings. 2 days passed, the situation is worse. Too many people are now affected. Do I need to use my power? I start my day and do my job. Not my office job but my job to help my dear countrymen. As I step my foot out of my house, I move my hands up to make things float. After a few hours, I felt tired so I slept to regain my power. “Rico! Wake up Rico!” I heard a voice that I haven’t heard in decades and as I open my eyes I saw Aerith my friend and childhood sweetheart. She was missing for almost 2 decades and we don’t even have a clue about her whereabouts. Now she’s in front of me but suddenly the ground collapsed and a tree suddenly appeared. From the looks of it, it looks like the legendary world tree. I came closer so I can inspect it and as I thought it is in bad shape. “Look out Rico!” Aerith shouted as she pointed her finger to the tree. The tree suddenly collapsed but miraculously stopped in mid-air. As I look at Aerith her hands are held high then I realized that she has the same power as mine. “Hurry Rico, I can’t maintain this form for too long,” said Aerith. I was about to jump back to Aerith when I noticed a sapling in the middle of the world tree’s trunk. I carefully excavated it and jumped right into Aerith. The ground violently collapse so we decided to float as many land as we can. As we rise, we can see the magma eating up everything that it touches. It was a sad sight but still we have hope. Humanity’s last hope, the world tree’s sapling.  We should take good care of the world tree’s sapling to grow and once again keep the remaining land intact in order for humanity to survive.
