The sound of her shoes hitting the asphalt made a high sound, which she was quite sure that her follower could hear perfectly well. The rain made her wetter than she already was, and she had to force herself not to look back.
She removed the wet, blonde hair from her face, and looked down against the asphalt. Her dress, now full of dirt, looked like it had been cut off from the middle. Her earlier high-heeled shoes had broken the heel, and in pure anger she felt disgusted over herself and her behaviour. She had been warned about going out so late in the evening.
She looked up again, and started running, even faster than before now. The creature that was coming faster and faster up behind her looked like it wanted to eat her. She swallowed, and ran against one of London’s many bridges. This particular one had big, brick walls which it was possible to hide behind. For the first time this night, a little smile started showing up on her pretty, little face.
She kept the walls in sight, and silently she was counting the metres until she was safe again. When she was under the bridge, she dared looking back, and the creature was out of sight. She let a sigh come out from her mouth, and climbed up behind the wall.
“Where are you, little girl?” A cold, scary voice whispered. “You can just come to me, I’ll find you anyway.”
She swallowed again, and tried to curl herself together like a ball in a desperate attempt to keep on the warmth of her body. His footsteps were coming closer to her hiding place, and when she looked down at him from where she sat, she couldn’t believe what she saw. The creature looked just like any man. He was wearing a grey suit, with a long, black cape, and he had a pale, almost white face and brown hair.
From where she was sitting, she could see his nose sniffing in the air, and then he turned around and looked directly into her eyes. The man started to smile, and revealed two long, white fangs.
