I couldn't stay.
I slipped out and got my coat and crept out into the dark night.
I waited until I got to the gate and into the street but then I just couldn't help it, tears started pouring out of my eyes. Even though I would look like a panda in a skirt I didn't care.
I stood there sobbing, feeling utterly lost, played and broken. I wanted everything to go back to how it was a few months ago, when I had the SG and we were happy. Even he didn't care about me now. I'd begged him not to leave, I'd been crying down the phone. But he left anyway. And now all I had was his stupid letter, telling me about the great time he was having. He didn't even say that he missed me.
I ran down the street, blinded by tears, until I came to the park. I went to the spot where Robbie and I first sat together. Where he had sung me songs with his head on my knee. It was pitch black by this point, the distant sound of music being carried in the air. Giddy silhouettes stumbling out of parties, far away raucous shouting. I'd needed to get away. To be on my own. It was quiet in the park, apart from my soft cries. Eventually I managed to slow my breathing and my sobs disintegrated into whispers. I hugged my knees close to my chest and slowly rocked back and forth.
"Georgia." The voice came from behind me. It was familiar; a deep, husky sound. I turned my head to see a tall figure standing behind me. It was him. Robbie.
"Robbie?" I was shocked. I couldn't even get my words out properly.
He ran over to me and held me in his arms. "Hey, don't cry. I've got you."
"What are you doing back?" I was overwhelmed.
"I needed to come back for you. When you didn't write me back, it really tore me up, Georgia. And then Tom told me that Jas had mentioned that you had a thing for Dave. I was gutted. I realised how much I needed you. I would much rather be with you than be in New Zealand." He cupped my face in his hands. "I love you, Georgia."
My eyes welled up again as his words sank in. "Robbie, I love you too." I couldn't believe it. "You're here to stay?"
"I'm here to stay." He looked deep in my eyes. "I'm not going to leave you again."
"That's all I need to hear." I whispered, as I brought his lips to mine. We kissed passionately for what felt like forever, before I fell back into him, my head resting on his chest, his strong arms around me. I'd never felt more safe, as he held me, lightly kissing my head.
I was thrown back to reality when I heard footsteps behind us. I turned to see Dave the Laugh walking towards us. I was still in Robbie's arms when he reached us and frantically started to apologise.
"I don't want to hear it, Dave," I interrupted, "You really hurt me, and there's no going back. You told me to choose. I chose. Robbie is the one for me. Always has been, always will be." Robbie's arms tightened around me as I said this.
But Dave wasn't letting me go. "Look Georgia-"
"She's made her choice mate. It's best if you leave." Robbie was getting protective and I have to say, it made me fall in love with him even more.
"Nah, hold on. You left her and just now waltz back like she's supposed to have been waiting for you?" Dave was getting angry with the SG.
"Dave, I made my choice. Please go." I just wanted him to leave and find someone else to bother. I was too angry to talk to him now.
He turned on me. "You know Georgia? You're a lying cow. Can't help leading people on, can you? So yeah, I'll go. I won't waste anymore time with you, bitch."
Robbie let go of me and launched himself at Dave. He threw a right hook into Dave's jaw, causing Dave to fall to the ground, groaning. I stood there amazed.
"Don't ever talk to her like that again." Robbie snarled, as he grabbed my hand and started walking away, with me trailing behind.
