One day, Georgie and Michael were playing out in the forest like kids their age did. They spent their time climbing trees, throwing mud at one another, and chasing any small animals that crossed their path. Getting bored of doing the same things over and over, they decided to go explore deeper into the forest to find something new to do.

As they got further and further away from civilization, the forest became darker and denser, the trees knurled and twisted. The boys noticed a crow swoop dangerously low over their heads, and perched itself on a large dead oak tree, where it looked at both of the boys and cawed.

Up ahead, Michael noticed a small well and he ran to it with excitement. While he ran he dug his hand into his pocket and pulled out a coin to make a wish. He slid to a stop and tossed his coin in as Georgie caught up to Michael. The coin landed in the bottom of the well, but instead of a splash, there was a whimper.

Georgie stood on his tiptoes and peaked over the side to only find a young blonde girl at the bottom wearing a dirty, white, silky dress. She looked up at Georgie and noticed that the coin was in her hand, her face was frightened.

"Michael looks," Georgie shouted, "there's a girl down there."

The girl looked up at the boys with hopelessness in her eyes and placed the coin onto the well's stone floor.

With that Georgie started looking for something to pull her up with. Michael found some rope not too far from the well, and they grabbed one end and dropped the other end into the well, and lifted the little girl out of the well.

"Your wish is going to come true" she whispered. The blonde girl smiled creepily towards Michael.

The girl's actions disturbed Michael and he took a step back, causing the girl to take a step forward giggling. Georgie didn't know what to do, he wondered what he wished. The girl took another step towards Michael and then another and another, slowly making her way towards Michael.

Georgie could tell she wasn't a little girl like she presented herself to be, there was something dark about her body language,  so he took Michael's hand and started to run where they came from, stumbling on rocks and tree roots along the way. Georgie looked behind his shoulder to see the little girl right on their heels, almost within reach of grabbing both of them. Michael started slowing down out of exhaustion.

"Don't you want your wish to come to true Michael?" she laughed.

Michael started slowing down out of pure exhaustion.

"Come on, we have to keep going. We are almost safe." Georgie said breathlessly, he could see the end of the forest, where hopefully they would be safe.

As they got closer and closer to the end of the forest, both Michael remembered the myth of a little girl in a well who grants your wish in a twisted way, usually resulting in either in bad luck or death of that who tossed their wish into the well she abided in.

"What did you wish for?" Georgie screamed over his shoulder when all of a sudden both of them were pulled back as they reached the end of the forest. The little girl had got them.

With both of them on the ground, the little girl in the tattered white silk dress stood over them with a menacing grimace spread on her delicate, angel-like face.

"I wished we could stay here forever," Michael whispered with tears in his eyes, "it's when I'm the happiest." He started crying.

Georgie, being the taller and stronger one out of them both grabbed a stick that was nearby, stood up and started swinging it at the girl, in an attempt to hurt her, but all it did was pass through her, there was no escape.

That night, both Georgie's and Michael's family reported them missing. The search party looked for them for months on end, not wanting to believe they were gone. Their bodies were never found.
