Dear Diary,
Life’s a bitch. Do you know why? It’s because today I started 7th grade. It may seem like a nice experience, being in middle school, almost done it all ready, but it’s not. People in middle school are very judging and can be little bitches all the time. That’s not the real problem, though. It’s that I’m 13 and gay. If anyone at my school found out about my secret I would literally die. The middle school crowd doesn’t really understand people like me. They won’t treat you the same.
1) They beat the shit out of you
2) They would make fun of you
3) You will be exiled from society
That’s why I can’t say anything, because they’re a bunch of homophobes at school and can't accept people for who they are. That’s why so many people are changed by the time they get to high school. That’s my plan. To get through 7th grade alive, barely make it in 8th, and in 9th explore the endless possibilities of being an out of the closet gay boy. But for now I’m just here in this small closet holding back my nature. Only 2 more years of this. That’s exactly why I got this diary. To write about my life in my homophobic school and how deal with my everyday life. Maybe one day when I become famous for whatever I’m good at (I have to find out what that is) I’ll make this into a biography. So I guess I’ll start with a formal introduction my name is Tyler NightLock. Now let’s start with this morning when I got to school, I had just walked up to where my “friends” were standing...
“Hey, Ty! Come here I got some stuff to tell you along with the rest of the group.” Adam said pushing me along with our little group.
“What?”
“There’s a rumor going around saying a gay foreign dude is at our school and now we have to track him down.”
That’s when I froze. I had no idea there was another gay kid at my school. As dumb as this sounds gay people were like aliens to us in our little town so it was weird to see one. So throughout the day I was secretly looking for him to see what he looked like, but I never found him, that is until I got home. The boy was sitting on my couch along with 2 men. I wasn’t focused as much on the men but the boy. He had dark red hair sort of spiking out and messy. He wore it a little bit below his ears and those odd red like eyes that were staring right at me. I had no idea what was happening.
“Mom!” I yelled dropping my bag on the floor.
She shuffled into the room with a plate of cookies and set it on the table, putting it in front of them. “Yes, sweet heart?”
“Who are these people?”
“Our new neighbors. Let me introduce you.”
Apparently, the 2 men were a gay couple moving in with their son across the street from us. The boy’s name is Demetrius which kinda suits his mysteriousness because he didn’t speak at all, the whole time Mom was talking to his parents. We were both forced to sit there and listen to their conversation. Overall I just keep wondering…why I wanted to know more about my new gay neighbor.
