"I didn't peg you for a guy who eats Chinese food." I tease, watching as his lips press into a thin line. We left the company building awhile ago and had been driving to wherever he was taking me. "I didn't peg you as such a talkative person." He replies. I let out a giggle as we turn a corner then finally park. "Touche." Smiling at him as he got out the car then walked around to open my door. "Thanks."
"We're married aren't we? This should be normal." He says. I never really knew what normal was, but I think our marriage is anything else except normal. "What's even more normal is when a couple actually spends time with each other before the wedding." I reply. I wasn't planning to let the topic go anytime. I was petty, but that's something he would've found out if he made the time to get to know his spouse. His very petty spouse. "Do you always have to say something? I feel like I'm walking on nails around you." He let out a deep sigh as I shifted in my spot, rising from out of the car seat.
"Only nails?" I mutter. The car door was shut as we made our way to the restaurant. As soon as I entered the smell hit me. It smelt like they sprinkled in a little heaven instead of salt. Not that I was complaining. My stomach was doing flip flops like I was having my first kiss all over again, but this time I wouldn't be gagging this time. Thankfully.
A stout lady approaches our table menu in hand. Her lips part to say something but as soon as they meet Leo, they light up like a Christmas tree. "Leo, I haven't seen you in so long!" She beams, making Leo's lips form a smile.
Well, someone better call Anna cause this is the first time in forever.
The expression was a complete transition from his usually indifference. Yes, I didn't show much emotions either, but this right here was a sight. His eyes were absolutely beautiful and there was no denying that. The way his grey eyes were practically shining as he had a boyish smile over his face was rarity even among diamonds. I'm allowed to be attracted to him, I'm his wife.
"Oh, before I forget! Who's this lovely lady you've brought along?" The lady asked, gaze now focusing on me. "This is my wife, Katelyn." He says.
"She so beautiful! Just the perfect fit for my handsome Leo!" She rambles on as her gaze starts to run over my body. It wasn't like one if the gazes you'd thought I would have been given, it was kind. I felt like I was introduced to his mother again.
After she takes our orders she goes wonders off behind the counter. "She seems nice." The soft look on Leo's face pretty much summed up everything and before long our plates were placed before us. "Here you g-." The waiter stopped in the middle of her sentence. I didn't even bother looking up until I heard her say something that threw me off. "Is that you Katelyn?" With that all my mental functions immediately gave up on me faster than my fork hitting against the plate.
I think I'm going to be sick.
I looked up at the waiter and saw her, looking the same as ever as if nothing ever happened. It made my stomach churn uncontrollably and a lump form in my throat. "Are you serious?" It wasn't even a question meant for her. My mind was blank, mouth dry and all I could think about was how much the universe likes dumping it's feces all over my life. "I guess I never thought I'd be serving you either."
I scoff at her. "I really can't say the same, Vivian." Her face contorts as she opens her mouth to say something to me. In the corner of my eye I see Leo signaling the staff. "Can we get this to go?"
Vivian is still standing there trying to put together a complete sentence, fidgeting under my gaze. I brush her off as I stand and head to the door as fast as I can. I felt sick to the pit of my stomach being there. Leo got the message and was hot on my trail as we walked towards his car and went home.
I didn't even wait for the car door to close before I ran towards the house scaring a maid half to death. "M-Mrs. Rochest-." The bathroom door flew open and I became to hurl the contents of my breakfast. This feeling was disgusting. The memories were disgusting. As much as I tried to stop, I couldn't and it all came out at once. I don't like this feeling at all. I don't like it-. It only took me a minute to realize a major factor of this all.
We were on a lunch break with half of the work day to go.
Freshening up as fast as possible, I speed walked around the house searching for Leo. When I do find him his gaze immediately glues to me as I pause. He's on the phone. "Yes, father. I know that very well. Goodbye."
"Leo, I'm so sorry. You didn't need to bring me back. We could hav-." He places a finger against his lips, shushing me. "Are you feeling better now?" He asks. My shoulders slump and I could only bring myself to nod with my gaze averted. "Great," he says, indicating to the carry out boxes behind him. "This time, let's eat."
