                                                                 "Partner's"

I hated school. That was an absolute fact. It wasn’t the work. I never minded the work. It was the kids. High School kids could be vicious. If you weren’t just like them then they would eat you alive. They didn’t try to mess with me anymore. They had learned their lessons on that one.

My name is Paige Allen. I’m eighteen years old and I go to Marshal High. An absolute hell hole. I had a few good friends though. They didn’t care where I came from or what I have. They just honestly care about me without any judgments.

I can’t honestly say that all of the kids here are horrible. Just the majority. Every now and then you could find a kid that you never expected to meet in a place like this. Like Maggie. My best friend. You would never have expected us to be friends.

She was my complete opposite. I was rude and she was overly nice. I hated people and she loved to meet new people. I was often sarcastic and she didn’t know the meaning os sarcasm. She was the best person I have ever met.

Now my friend Austin is just like me. And I mean in every way. We both like to make sarcastic comments. We both get in trouble on a daily basis. That means at school and on the streets. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times we’ve been in a cell.

Jamie is the mean one. He doesn’t mean to be but I don’t think he knows how to be nice. He doesn’t bully anyone but you better not mess with him or the people he cares about. He’ll beat you up in a heartbeat without breaking a sweat. I loved him for it.

The teacher’s likes to pick at us. I guess because we were the poor kids they thought we needed more help. I guess they thought we were stupid. Some of them liked to be mean to us and others honestly wanted to help us. I didn’t need help though. I was smart enough to handle myself.

The kids like to pick at the poor kids to. I wasn’t fun for them in the end. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been in fights at school. The never suspended me anymore. I guess they decided there was no point. I never cared. It was pointless. I would go home for a few days then come back and in a few more days it would happen again.

Another reason I hates school was because of boys. Sometimes they would look me up and down like I was a piece of meat. It made me sick. They were all perves. Every single one of them. Their goal in life right now was to see how many girls they could get into bed.

I mean, I know I’m pretty. I have long, wavy, black hair that falls to the middle of my back and almond shaped brown eyes. My nose was rounded and I had a few freckles spread across it. I had a long athletic body that has hidden muscle strength from the years of fighting. I also developed early which is the reason guys stare at me.

I pulled my hair up into a bun at the top of my head as I looked into my locker mirror. After it looked alright I shut my locker door and hoisted my bag up on my shoulder and walked towards my last class of the day. It was Home Ec. so it wasn’t bad. I actually liked it a little bit.

When I walked in everyone was still standing up. I saw Maggie and pushed my way through people to get to her. I was standing beside her for a minute before she looked over at me. She blinked in surprise before smiling at me.
