Chapter 3: Point of Trust
It has been exactly three days since Kara's encounter with Lena Luthor. Yes, Kara has been counting. It has been three days yet within those days, she didn't give Lena a call, too afraid that the other woman would just tell her that she's busy with something or not answer her or whatnot.
Well, Lena Luthor is both a principal and a CEO, and for people like her time really is gold. Kara thought who the hell is she for the Luthor to spare her a second? She is not an important client or what, she is just Kara Danvers, the now reporter.
At this moment, Kara is currently at her work, deciding whether to call Lena when it's her lunch time.
"Kiera!"
The blonde almost jolted at the loud voice, almost running at a superhuman speed, but then it came to her mind that she's supposed to be human. Thanking her ability-control, Kara went to her boss's office at a humanly pace.
"Yes Miss Grant?" Kara answered politely as soon as she reached her boss's room.
The woman looked up through her glasses that are almost at the edge of her nose, making her look old, while raising an eyebrow at the employee.
Cat Grant didn't reveal her motives right away. She took her time staring, but more like glaring, at Kara before she started opening her mouth, having too much fun flustering the younger woman.
The other blonde helplessly fumbled with her glasses, pushing it further up to her nose with her shaking hand. Kara always received cold stares from her boss, yet as the scenario repeats itself, it is still intimidating for Kara.
"I heard you've conversed with Lena Luthor somehow, yes?"
Kara pursed her lips before letting out a curt nod. Her boss pronounced Lena's name like it's a bad thing. Cat eyed her carefully before rising up from her seat to walk around her desk. When she's standing in front of her desk, Cat leaned her weight on it and continued staring at Kara as she crossed her arms over her chest.
Kara knew this stance all too well. It was Cat's way of showing her power through showing her hips. Whenever her boss does this, she usually has no choice but to say yes. Who can say no to such powerful woman? Another assertive woman might be.
"Well, that's good to know.." Cat stated. "And since you asked to be a journalist, like I once told you that you will be the day you showed yourself to me, I'd like you to interview Miss Luthor for your first article."
Kara's jaws almost fell down to the floor when she heard the order.
Interview? Miss Luthor? This woman is insane!
"W-what..?" The nervous blonde dumbly asked with her mouth frequently opening just to be closed again like a fish's.
Kara is, of course and obviously, glad to have finally been assigned to write her first article as a journalist; however, Cat Grant made sure that the ray of sunshine will have a difficult time without even knowing it.
On the other side, Kara's constant question that has been running on her mind now has an answer; she will give Lena Luthor a call because it is a must.
"You heard me," Cat commented, her tone turning stern, not that it wasn't stern before. "You are going to interview the Luthor." She emphasized every word she said that Kara had no chance but to nod at every single one of them.
The Super pushed her glasses up to her nose one more before letting out a defeated sigh, accepting her fate. "Sure.."
Cat clapped her hands before saying, "Okay, now chop chop!"
