Prologue
Lily Potter had gone into labour on July 31, 1980 at 11:39 pm. It took only seven minutes for some of the medi-witches at St. Mungo's to get her and James a room in which the baby could be born. Hadrian James Potter was born at 11:53 pm.
What the shock was, though, was when Lily went into labour again. Rose Esmeralda Potter was born at 12:00 am on August 1, 1980.
They had twins that were born on different days.
Hadrian had messy black hair like his father while Rose had red hair like her mother, but equally as messy as Hadrian's. They both had green eyes, although Rose's were closer to that of the killing curse. Hadrian's were exactly like Lily's, and within the first year of having them home, nearly everyone felt they needed to comment on that fact.
And by 'everyone' they obviously meant the medi-witches at St. Mungo's, Peter Pittegrew, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, Frank and Alice Longbottom, the Weasley's, Severus Snape---much to James' ire---, and Albus Dumbledore.
On Hallowe'en, 1981, the door to the Potter's home in Godric's Hollow was blasted down. A man with red eyes and a very snake-like face stepped inside over the ruined door.
"Lily, take the twins and go! It's him! Go! Run! I'll hold him off!" James yelled to Lily in the kitchen. She picked up the twins and ran up the stairs into the nursery, slamming the door closed and placing the twins in the nearest crib.
"Avada Kedavra!" Lily heard James' body crumple to the floor, followed by footsteps ascending the stairs. The nursery door flew off its hinges and Voldemort walked inside. The snake-man cackled and lifted his wand.
"Not, Harry, not Rose, please not them!"
"Stand aside you silly girl. Stand aside now."
"Not the twins, please no, take me, kill me instead!"
"This is your last chance. Stand. Aside."
"Not Harry, not Rose! Have mercy... have mercy..."
"Avada Kedavra!" Lily fell to the floor as soon as the green light hit her. Voldemort moved closer to the crib, a cruel smile adorning his face. "The girl is definitely the one from the prophecy due to her eyes being that shade of green, but do I want to kill her before, of after her brother?" He pondered for a moment. An idea formed in his mind and he decided to see if it would work. He took out his original wand---he got an extra so no one would realize Tom Riddle and Voldemort were connected---and pointed one at each twin; his original at Rose and his newer one at Hadrian.
"Avada Kedavra!" Two green lights shot out of the wands, but before the curses could reach either of them, however, they rebounded off their foreheads, instead going straight for the Dark Lord. Voldemort screamed in agony, as did Harry and Rose. Voldemort's soul split in three pieces, two latching themselves to Harry and Rose and the last fleeing from Godric's Hollow to find a new vessel.
With two identical lightning bolt cuts on their foreheads, Harry and Rose passed out on top of one another, too exhausted to stay awake.
