Reunited

The Signal

Steven sat playing his game with Amethyst and Garnet though he wasn't really paying attention. Pearl hadn't come out of her room for nearly a week and everyone was getting worried about what was wrong. Steven knew that sometimes Pearl would like to enjoy some alone time but she would at least warn Garnet that she would be gone for a while if she needed alone time for more than two or three days.

Steven once again lost to Amethyst as neither were actually playing anymore and finally Amethyst sat back against Steven's bed and sighed.

"Alright, Pearl isn't going to come out on her own and we're all worrying about her. Let's just walk in and check on her."

"I'm not sure she'd like that." Steven said as his eyes rested on the door to the temple.

"Well if it's just quick? What do you think Garnet?" Amethyst and Steven looked at Garnet who hummed and then nodded.

"We should at least check on her to see what's wrong."

They all stood and went to Pearl's room. It took them a bit to find her but eventually they found her sitting with her head on her knees on top of one of the waterfalls close to the back of Pearl's room.

"Hey P, wanna tell us why you've been hauled up in your room for the past few years?" Amethyst said in her usual 'I'm trying to make you smile' voice.

Pearl groaned in response and Garnet, Amethyst, and Steven all shared a concerned look before Steven approached Pearl who was still curled up where she sat.

"Hey Pearl, you might feel better if you tell us whats wrong."

Pearl pulled her head from her knees and it was obvious she had been crying. She didn't look at any of them as she near whispered, "I miss her so much."

Amethyst kind of grumbled and said "Really this is about Rose?"

"Not Rose." Pearl whispered.

"What?"

"Not. Rose." Pearl said louder. "I have some things I haven't told any of you. It's a long story though."

"Well, we'll hear it if you'll tell us." Steven said as he sat down followed by Garnet and Amethyst who shared a very confused look as Pearl started to talk.

"I used to be a fusion. We didn't fuse all the time, but we wanted to so badly. We loved each other so much. She was a Purple Sapphire and we made an Angle Aura when we fused." Pearl smiled sadly as she started to remember. "We would sit together at night and talk for hours. We didn't tell Rose because we were afraid of what she would say even though Garnet was already on the team. We always said it was different even though we knew it wasn't, we were just so scared.

We were going to tell Rose and everyone else and become a fusion all the time so that we could feel like a person but we were attacked by Yellow Diamonds troops. They stabbed Angel Aura and when I came back I was in Rose's room. I asked her where my Sapphy was and she just told me they couldn't find her." Pearl pulled her legs more into herself as she started crying. "I thought she had been shattered but I got a signal from her recently. She's somewhere but I'm so afraid to go looking for her. What if I never find her and I'm just heartbroken again!"

No one had even noticed that Garnet had started near sobbing during Pearl's story. She stood and came over to Pearl to hold her and said, "Pearl. I won't stop until I find her for you. Just the thought of being pulled apart for so long makes me feel sick and I have no idea how you have been so strong. Trust me though. I will bring you you're sapphire."

Pearl turned into Garnet and hugged her back as she cried.

"I'll work on finding her for you too!" Steven said as he stood and hugged Pearl.

"I'll help too!" Amethyst said as she also hugged Pearl.

The four hugged for a while until Garnet pulled away and said in a serious voice, "Alright, we'll need to know some things. What's her general area, what does she look like, and what should we expect."

They all sat around Pearl as she used her gem to show them what Purple Sapphire looked like. She had long lilac hair which was in a ponytail and her bangs only covered one of her eyes as she had two. Her skin was a darker lilac color and she had lilac gloves. Her dress was light purple above the waist and she had a royal purple skirt that covered her legs as well as a lilac ribbon separating the two colors.

Pearl then explained that she didn't know exactly where Purple Sapphire was but that she was around one of the kindergartens. At that Garnet was already getting up to start checking the kindergartens and she told Pearl to tell her if she got another signal.

Garnet, Amethyst, and Steven all left Pearl's room and Amethyst asked which Kindergarten they should search.

"I'll take the Beta Kindergarten, you two search the Prime Kindergarten. Make sure to also check the area around the Kindergarten. Pearl said that she received the signal earlier which means that Purple Sapphire could have moved since Pearl got her location. Also be very careful of the area since Purple Sapphire was with Yellow Diamond troops last time Pearl and her spoke."

They agreed and went to the separate kindergartens ready to look for Purple Sapphire. Steven and Amethyst started looking around and decided that being sneaky was the best idea as Purple Sapphire didn't actually know them. They searched for few hours but couldn't find any trace of another gem at the Kindergarten. Steven sat with a sigh and Amethyst joined him.

"What if we don't find Purple Sapphire?" Steven asked as he thought about Pearl's crying face and how much it would hurt her.

"Steven, we'll find her one way or another. You know Garnet, she'll get Purple Sapphire or die trying. She'll refuse to give up the search until she has Purple Sapphire's shards and the shards of the gem who shattered her."

Steven nodded with a determined face before standing up, "We've searched all we can here. Let's go back to the beach house to wait for Garnet and then we can also tell Lapis and Peridot so they can help us search for her too."

"Yeah, that sounds like the best idea" Amethyst stood and walked back to the warp with Steven. They got back to the beach house and decided to have lunch as they waited for Garnet. She was gone for a long time and came back close to sunset with her head hung a little.

"Garnet, what happened?"
