Child of Legends II: Prince of Space

Hoo boy! That was an even wilder ride than the first Child of Legends!

Anyways, I can't believe that after three long years of hard work, Child of Legends II: Prince of Space is finally done! (I'm sorry it took so much longer than the first one. High school is a lot more intense than middle school in terms of schoolwork and stuff.) Of course, I couldn't have done it without you, so I'd like to thank everyone for reading this book. I really appreciate it!

So, just like last time, I decided to use this time to talk about trivia, interesting facts about the story, and things that didn't make the cut.

• In keeping with Diane's surname being Russian for "diamond", Paul's surname, Zhemchug, is Russian for "pearl".

• On that note, the name "Paul" means "little", so Paul's name literally means "little pearl". How cute! However, when I chose his name, I had no idea what it meant, and just chose it because it sounded like the first syllable of "Palkia" and also sounds similar to "pearl".

• Kitty's name is purely punny, as a kitty is another word for a cat. However, her surname, Genesis, means "the origin, start, or point at which something comes into being", which is fitting for a daughter of Mew, the ancestor of all mortal life.

• Aurelia's first name comes from the Aurelia genus of jellyfish, and her surname, Aguamala, is Spanish for jellyfish.

• Hinata's first name means "towards the sun" or "sunny place", and her surname, Kamikokoro, means "god mind/heart/soul".

• Nuclea Cida's name comes from nucleic acids, the catch-all term for both DNA and RNA.

• Remember Paul's mean stepdad, Hudson C. Poubelle? Well, "Poubelle" is actually French for "trash".

• The Folkloric Face-Off subplot was not originally planned, but I ended up adding it not only because I needed something to beef up the story content to its thirty-chapter precedent, but because I was on an Ultra Beast kick at the time and really wanted to come up with characters who were children of Ultra Beasts.

• In the sorting scene, several of the characters mentioned, including Charlotte Forme, Manon and Phiona Seafayre, and Daria Shadow, were created by my best friend spiritoast. I advise you go check them out not only on Wattpad, but on their other social medias as well. They are very good at drawing and character design.

• Hinata Kamikokoro was originally created as a joke, but I later included her in the story not only because I thought she'd be a funny character, but also because I wanted to deconstruct the concept of the "perfect Mary Sue character" (since Hinata was blessed with inhuman beauty and limitless powers, all that praise went to her head and she became incredibly selfish and vain)

• The spooky stories that Gigi and Reggie told in Chapter Five are both parody creepypastas from the late 2000s-early 2010s: Gigi's is "And Then A Skeleton Popped Out", and Reggie's is "Then Who Was Phone".

• You may notice that Paul makes a lot of Star Wars references, particularly in Chapter Twenty-Six. This is because Palkia's roar in The Rise of Darkrai is the same as Boga the varactyl's roar in Revenge of the Sith.

• Paul's not the only one to reference Star Wars. In Chapter Twenty-Seven, when Zeke is shooting Diane with electricity, he says "POWER! UNLIMITED POWER!" This is a direct quote from Zeke's main inspiration, Emperor Palpatine.

• In Pokémon Ultra Sun, I took on Team Rainbow Rocket with a Child of Legends-themed team, consisting of Diane (Dialga), Terrence (Groudon), Lucy (Lugia), Gigi (Regigigas), Aurelia (Nihilego), and Rae (Reshiram).

Anyways, that's about it. Again, I'd like to thank all of my readers so much for taking time out of your life to read my stupid fanfiction. You guys are the best.

But this isn't the end of this legendary saga.
