Chapter One: Breakfast in Bed

Jungkook opened his eyes and immediately crinkled his nose at the harsh sunlight beaming through the hotel window. He rolled over with a sharp sigh. Jungkook hated mornings especially the waking up part. The night before had been intense for the Bangtan boys, their comeback in the United States had been kind of rough. They were called to many interviews and had to travel back and forth constantly. Every night they had to train for the next concert as well. They were all completely and utterly exhausted.

        Jungkook opened his eyes again knowing he would now be safe from the blinding sunlight. He was face to face with Taehyung. Tae laid in a fetal position with one arm tightly clutching a pillow. Which Jungkook soon recognized as his own. He grinned remembering the events of last night. Tae must've gotten lonely when Jungkook had gotten up to go to the bathroom and Jungkook must've not realized that his pillow was missing when he got back. Jungkook laid there for a while analyzing Tae's face. It was one of his most favorite things to do, after all, he had the most handsome man in the world laying in his bed. The white sunlight seemed to pool on Taehyung's subtle figure and soak into him, giving him an unmistakable glow. Oh, how truly beautiful Taehyung was in Jungkook's eyes. Nothing could compare. Jungkook lightly brushed a straggling piece of hair behind Tae's ear. He kissed him on the forehead before getting up to get dressed. He threw on a random tee shirt from inside his luggage. It had a black Adidas logo on it and the rest was red. He matched it with some black sweatpants and put on his thrasher hoodie. He grabbed his wallet, his phone, and his sunglasses before heading out. He sent a quick text to Taehyung on the way downstairs in the elevator.

        It was pretty late in the morning, nearly 10:30 as Jungkook roamed the streets near his hotel in Chicago. This was the one day when they had the morning off. They had to be at the studio by 4 and the concert started at 6. He knew Tae would be waking up around this time. So when he entered the café he bought coffee and breakfast for two. On the way back from the Café he was stopped by two girls in the street. They were really nice and asked for a photo with him, he gladly agreed. This happened a lot. It used to bother him in the beginning but now he was used to it and appreciated it, after all, it was flattering. The girls complimented him profusely before leaving him on his way. When he got back up to him and Tae's hotel room he tried to open the door as quietly as possible. However, to his surprise, Tae was already awake sitting in bed looking at his phone. Probably checking the text message that Jungkook had just sent. Jungkook set the food and drinks down on the small glass table next to the tv stand.

"Well hello there!" Jungkook said playfully pouncing on top of Taehyung. "I brought you breakfast!" He said giving Tae his adorable little smile and kissing his cheek.
Tae smiled widely, that adorable little box smile that Jungkook adored so.

"Did you get me a doughnut?" He asked playfully.

"You bet I did!" Jungkook said jumping off of Tae and getting the doughnut out of the bag. He brought it over to Tae with some napkins and his cup of coffee. "Let's have breakfast in bed!"

Tae sat admiring his double-dipped doughnut while Kookie got his food ready as well. He had gotten a cherry-filled danish for himself. (Start the music now) Jungkook went to go sit next to Tae on the bed and they turned on some music while they ate. Jungkook had made a playlist for calm and happy moments like this. A piano version of Spring Day played in the background while they ate.

"I just love this song," Tae said, with a mouth full of doughnut. Doughnuts were Tae's latest splurge in America. He had grown addicted to them.

"Me too," Jungkook said after swallowing a bite of his cherry danish.

"We should write a song together!" Tae shouted out of the blue, sending little crumbs of doughnut flying everywhere. There were even some on his face. They giggled as Jungkook began wiping them away with his thumb. His thumb gently caressing Taehyung's lip with each stroke. They made eye contact. Jungkook leaned in to kiss Taehyung. When their lips met everything in the world seemed right. They smiled, their lips still lightly touching. Jungkook could taste the chocolate on Tae's lips.

"What would it be about? That song you suggested?" Jungkook asked as he lightly pulled away to gaze into Taehyung's golden brown eyes. They sparkled like glistening honey.

"You," Taehyung said with such velvet in his voice, it was almost as if they were huddled in velvet blankets on a frosty evening in Seoul.

"Me?" Jungkook said with a small blissful giggle.

"Well, us. Together... as a couple." Tae said pulling back and lowering his eyes. He knew how Jungkook felt when he talked about coming out.

Jungkook sighed. "You know that we can't." He said dejectedly.

"But why not!? I love you, Jungkook. You know that. I don't understand why you feel so uncomfortable about coming out. Talk to me." Tae said with such emotion, Jungkook could swear that he could feel Tae's eyes looking through him.

"It's just. Well... you know that I've had a crush on you since we debuted, but that it took me a while to actually realize how I felt. Well, and to accept the fact that I was gay, right?" Tae nodded earnestly. "I just... we've been together for a long time and I can understand the stress it puts you under because we aren't out and it makes you feel suppressed. However, I just don't think people would be as accepting of me being gay. Especially my family. I'm "the manly one", the one with muscles who works out at the gym and "checks out girls" in most people's eyes. What people would think and what they would say, is just so stressful and uncomfortable to me. I've fully accepted myself, yes, but I'm not sure if I'm ready for everyone else too. The company has already told us that we need to tone it down some. They're worried about our image. Do you know what most people think about when someone mentions k-pop? Gay boys. How do I..."

"Okay. Okay. I get it. Slow down." Tae said, putting his hand on Jungkook's shoulder and pulling him in for a tight hug. "We don't have to release the song. I just thought that maybe we could start writing one. I love you so much and I respect whatever you feel comfortable with. Even if we have to hide our relationship, as long as I'm with you, I'm happy. For now, it'll be our little secret."

Jungkook whimpered as involuntary tears slowly began to roll down his cheeks. He knew how much Tae loved him and it made him so euphoric to hear what Tae was saying. "I love you too. So so much." Jungkook tightened the embrace and basked in it. Tae pulled his head back just enough to see Jungkook's pleased tears. He gently wiped them away and cupped Jungkook's face in his hands whispering 'I know' before giving him another passionate kiss. They pressed their foreheads together and smiled at each other.
"Our little secret?" Jungkook repeated, giggling through his happy tears.

"Yes," Taehyung said, kissing Jungkook's cheek before reaching for his doughnut again.

Just then, Taehyung's phone buzzed.

"It's Namjoon, we have to leave in 30 minutes."

They finished the rest of their breakfast cuddling in silence. Simply appreciating each other's company. They didn't need anyone's approval for this and that was the best gift either of them could hope for.
