Chapter 1

Zephyr's POV

"Zeppy!" I turn my head away from my textbooks and sketchpad to see my 14 year-old brother, Nuffink dashing up the stairs with a peice of paper in his hands.

My mind started going wild on what my artistic brother could have drawn, if that what was on that peice of paper.

"Yes Nuff?" I spin my chair around to face him, he's bended over and heavily breathing he must have ran from the school house to our house.

"They came! They are here!" He shouted at me, standing up straight once again, his blonde hair was sticking to his forehead. I   laughed, "Do you mean what I think you mean?!" I said happily. We've been waiting months for these to come. They are very important to me and Nuff.

"Yes! Here is yours!" He hands me a envelope, I tear the top off and hurriedly rip out the peice of parchment.

Dear Zephyr Haddock,
You will be attending Berk's training course for dragons on Tuesday June 11th. Welcome to the Honor Guard where we train and rescue dragons whike also build a bond of a lifetime! Here is your class schedule:
Week 1: weapons and poisons
Week 2: book of dragons
Week 3: hands on activites with tamed dragons
Week 4,5,and 6: Wild dragons training
Week 7 and 8: final test to recieve your diploma and a baby dragon!

Sadly though because of the school policy You and your Brother Nuffink Haddock will be separated.

"YOU AND YOUR BROTHER NUFFINK WILL BE SEPARATED???" I shout loudly. Nuffink turns around with tears in his eyes and starts to whimper. I pull him into a hug and we fall to our knees holdimg each other.

"It's okay Nuff it's only for 2 months" i whisper to him. He nods and lets me go. We stand up and stand on my tip toes to ruffle his hair. He is younger just alot taller than me.

He smiles slightly then hugs me again. After I let go of him he sits on theside of my bed and lays down on it.

"What are you doing Zeph?" He asks turning his head to face me.
"I am studying for our training" I reply. "But clearly you want to talk to I'm just gonna put these away now" i continue as i slide my books under my desk. I stand up and brush off my brown skirt.

"So?" I question sitting beside him on my bed. "Should we tell the gang?" He shakes his yes. And i begin to put on my boots.

"C'mon! The gang probably got theirs too!" I shout at him, he giggles then rushes past me doqn tbe stairs. We pass our mom in the kitchen.

"Hello kids" she chirps. "Hi mom!" Me and Nuffink say at the same time. "Where are you going?" She asks letting the pans on the stove by themselves for a few minutes.

"Our letters came today!" I whisper-shout at her. "Finally after 4 months" she says. "Im assuming you guys are gonna be with the same teacher?" Me and Nuffink glance at each other quickly. But not quickly enough. "So you guys aren't?" We nod our heads yes. "Well off you go then after your done telling the gang tell your dad, he was worried you guys would get in" we nod and continue out the door.
