As day drones on, I grow to be more nervous by the minute. Tonight is our first stadium concert, and I'm quiet scared, to say the least. What if they don't like me? like how they didn't the first time I performed?
We just finished the sound check, which means the concert starts in less than hour. Shit. The lighting looks amazing, especially in this huge stadium. Our music will be loud, very loud. Almost to the point of deafening someone. We have quite the show coming tonight. We sold out of tickets within the first day of being released, so we ought to do our best, and give them more then they would ever possibly expect. We are called Queen after all.
As I try to put my Harley Quinn jumpsuit on, my nerves begin to get the best of me. My palms sweaty, hands shaking, only making it harder to get this skin tight suit on. Eventually, after many tries, I get the suit on and look in the mirror. Doesn't leave much to the imagination does it? I smirk, feeling my nerves slowly start to calm down. Just think... If we are to succeed tonight, we could become big. And by big, I mean rockstars. Imagine that! Me, Freddie Bulsara, one of the biggest rockstars in the world. That doesn't sound like a name a rockstar would have... I must really do something about that horrid last name.
5 minutes. That's all it is until I go on and start singing Keep Yourself Alive. Thinking about it bring back memories of the first time I sung it. I got the verses a bit mixed up, but it was ok, because we made it work.
"Fred? Are you ready to go on?" Roger asked me, twirling his drumsticks between his feminine fingers. I took a last look around our band. Johnny, our new-ish bass player looked calm on the outside, but I could see past it. The little cutie was nervous. Brian was standing there, making sure his guitar was all in tune, whilst tapping his foot to the beat of keep yourself alive. Roger was still looking at me.
"Yeah I am Rog, let's go blow the roof off this stadium!" And with that I grabbed my microphone and ran onto the stage. The crowd wooped and cheered, the light blinding me. I look around and see Mary in the front row, winking at her as I pucker up my lips. She blushed and looked away, whilst I just chuckled in my head.Slowly, Brian started to play the into to keep yourself alive, the other two joining in on drums and bass. Here goes everything and yet nothing....
I was told a million times
Of all the troubles in my way
Mind you grow a little wiser
Little better every day...
