• Aaliyah's P.O.V•

Beep. Beep. Beep.

I moaned and rolled over on my bed to turn off my alarm clock. It was Monday. Many people hated Mondays, and I was one of those people.

I hopped out of bed and decided to get changed. I got dressed into high-waisted shorts, a tank top, a zip-up sweater and a pair of black converse. I walked into my bathroom and put my hair into a messy bun.

I walked downstairs to get breakfast and I saw my mum. I was about to say good morning to her but I stopped myself because I realized my mum was talking on the phone. Since my mum is a politician, we hardly ever get to spend time together and it's very unlikely that my mum isn't working.

I sighed and walked to the kitchen to get some cereal. Once I was done eating, I brushed my teeth then grabbed my bag and headed out the door to go to school.

I started walking to my friend Gemma's house. We always walk to school together. I also take the bus sometimes and when I do, she does too.

I was at Gemma's house and I saw her out on her driveway, waiting for me.

"Hey, Aaliyah!" said Gemma.

"Hey," I replied. Gemma walked slowly down her driveway towards me. Once she got to me, we started walking to school.

"Did you hear there's going to be a new kid in our grade at school today?" Gemma asked.

"Yeah, I wonder who it is?" I replied.

A few minutes later, we arrived at our school. There were only a few people that we saw because we arrived early. We walked behind the school and sat under a big tree. This was where we sat everyday before school started. Our friends Zoe, Kasey, Rose, Sage, Cameron and Chelsea were already there and they greeted us.

A few minutes later, two of our friends Cooper and Kyle walked over to us with someone I didn't know. He had dark brown hair, which could've been a lighter black. His hair was styled into a slight quiff, which drives every girl crazy. His eyes were brown and they were twinkling. His charming smile made me feel like I had butterflies in my stomach. My heart pounded with adrenaline when he smiled at me. Was I falling for him?

"Hey guys, this is Mason Jefferson, he's a new kid," Kyle said, pointing to the boy I didn't know.

"H-hi Mason," I stuttered. My friends suddenly laughed at me.

"Looks like someone likes Mason," joked Cooper. I rolled my eyes. I tried not to blush, but it was too hard, and I felt my face go red. I was secretly panicking that they may suspect I liked Mason. I didn't! Right?
