Chapter 5 - Something else

"Hey there! Good morning babe" Rachel greeted me as we walked into the school together.

"Hey Rach! What's up with you?" I asked her as we reached for our lockers to get books for our next period.

"I'm.... okayish!"

What was the pause about? I should ask her right? Maybe there's something that's bothering her. Before I could ask her, she popped the  next question.

"What about you? How's life going on with Jacob huh?" She asked me with a big smirk on her face.

I rolled my eyes. "There's nothing going on with him. He's just a friend. How many thousand times do I have to tell you that?"

"Keep telling yourself that"
And with that she walked away for her drama class whereas I had my maths period... Maths period.... With Jacob!!!!

"Great for you to show up Miss Salvatore" my teacher spoke up as I was a teeny tiny bit late to the class. Yeah I was just 10 mins late! Big deal! I couldn't find my maths book.

"I'm really sorry ma'am. I would surely keep in mind to not be late the next time." I replied as I looked over the room with all eyes on me as everybody had settled in their respective seats.

"Very well. Take a seat" she replied with a stern face as she went back to write some equations on the white board.

I made my way towards the fourth row where Jacob was sitting. He had saved me a seat because we always sat together, when we got to know that we were in the same class.

"Wow, look how early you are! Could have taken more time you know." He whispered in my ear as I sat beside him taking out my books.

"Gee, thanks for the advice." I rolled my eyes. "I'll definitely try to be as late as possible so that you won't have anyone with you to help with your maths problems" I grinned at him

He chuckled beside me as he put his hands up in surrender.

We both laughed together.

"Care to explain what's so funny Ms Salvatore and Mr Robinson?" the teacher yelled at us as we observed everybody's gazes move towards us.

I froze. I get really awkward and nervous when everybody's staring at me. I immediately get so self conscious that I start to blabber nonsense.

"I'm still waiting for an answer." the teacher looked at us.

I looked towards Jacob to only notice he was looking back at me. He looked as perplexed and nervous as me. He twitched his eyeybrow at me and nudged me to say something.

I took a deep breath, looked at the teacher and blurted out
"Laughing we.. it funny was so hahaha"

What in the hell!!!!!! What did I just say? I didn't even speak proper english and just blurted out random words. The whole class gave me confused looks and so did the teacher.  I looked towards Jacob only to find him barely controlling his laughter. Damn! This couldn't be more embarrassing. I wish I could just drown now.

"We-hehe are really-hehe sorry ma'am" Jacob barely managed to speak out words as he laughed so bad.

I looked at him sheepishly hoping he would save me from this awkwardness. He got the signal and asked the teacher a maths doubt which diverted everybody's attention towards the whiteboard as she started explaining.

Soon after the bell rang. The class was dismissed and students started walking to get to their next classes.

Jacob turned towards me and I immediately knew what he was gonna ask.

I stood up from the desk to walk when suddenly he grabbed my hand.

"Hey Jen listen-"

"No! Don't!! Don't you dare say anything about the episode today. I know that was really.. really..

"Embarrassing?" He suggested while grinning like a 6 year old who just got ice cream.

I glared at him which I think he understood because the next thing I know he becomes quiet and puts a finger on his lips.

I calm down myself, look down and say "I know that was pretty uncomfortable and I guessed I embarrassed you too. I don't know I just get so nervous around everybody. I'm sor- "

"Hey hey you didn't embarass me honey. I found that funny and to be honest really cute." He chuckled looking at me while he lifted my chin up.

Honey?? Omg! Butterflies in stomach activated.
And wait, he found this cute? Seriously! Oh well he's such a nice guy.

"Thanks Jacob and if by any chance you mention this to Rach or Alex or Sarah or Noah, I'll definitely kill you." I said smirking at him

"I think it'll be fine Jennifer. You've already killed me with that smile of yours"

OH MY GOD!! Did he just... Was he just... Omg did he just flirt with me right now? I can't believe it. How is that even possible. I'm an average looking nerdy girl whereas he, he looks like a greek god and he was flirting with me. Best..Thing..Ever

I blushed so badly that you could literally take some pink shade of my cheeks.

"O-Okay I'm gonna g-go" I stammered while speaking as I tried to calmly walk out of the classroom which by the way was completely empty now.

"Hey wait up" Jacob called out to me.
"I really need your help with something. I have actually got this book report for English class but I can't decide a book to read. Could you suggest me any?"

"Okay..umm I guess you could take this book" I said as I took out a book from my bag.

"What? The Notebook? That's like the cheesiest book ever. So full of romance and bullsh*t. Please suggest anything other than this" he exclaimed.

"You haven't even read it. How could you be so negative from the starting" I replied as I folded my arms over my chest.

"Oh please, I literally hate such novels and wouldn't want to read it ever."

"Just give it try, I'm sure you'll like it"

"No no... Even if god himself came and convinced me I wouldn't touch this book" he said looking down at the book in his hands.

"Too bad... don't know about God but I really wanted you to read this!" I said as I looked up and caught him staring at me but I turned and started walking towards the exit.

I took a one last look at him as I was exiting the classroom and there I saw him, sitting in his chair... smiling and.... opening the first chapter of the book!
