When the moon shines bright over a crystalline sea, the Sirens come out to play; they sing their songs and hum their tunes, luring innocent travelors to their ultimate deaths. They feed on humans, taking them deep below the surface, never to be seen again.
But not all Sirens are bad; Taeyeon wasn't. She hated killing humans. She hated her lifestyle. She wanted a change.
Sirens: Taeyeon (mother), Onew (Father), Jonghyun (oldest son, 21), Yuri (oldest daughter, 20), Key (Middle child, 19) Taemin (Maknae, 18)
All in college.
Sirens are mermaids with enticing singing voices, able to lure sailors and beach goers to their death with a single whistle. Their voices have hypnotizing qualities, and one listen to their magical melody is all it takes to fall under. Sirens can come onto dry land, and by drying their fins out, they gain legs and the ability to walk on dry land; however, if even a single drop of water touches them, they turn back into their siren form. Sirens usually eat humans, but they can survive off of fish or meat of some kind. A Siren ages one year for every fifty human years; the physical body stops aging at the human age of 21. They say a kiss from a Siren allows you the ability to breathe underwater, and also allows the human to live as long as the Siren who marked him or her.
Half-Siren, Half Humans are a completely new species; there are only four known to live. They have all the powers of a normal Siren; the seductive voice, dashing good looks, and the hypnotizing qualities. They can live without having to return to sea, and can eat anything. They do sprout fins and gills when in contact with water, but the transformation process is not immediate. The fins will sprout in five to ten minutes, allowing them time to get away from human eyes. A kiss from a half-Siren marks him or her as the siren’s property, but does not give them the longevity of Siren life. A half-Siren can become a full blooded Siren after spending five Siren years underwater, without coming onto land.
Taeyeon: Taeyeon was a Siren; but she didn’t like the idea of killing humans for food. She hunted fish instead, and moved to land – she was the first siren to discover the ‘fin turns into legs when dried’ thing. She moved onto land, but because her legs were shaky, she couldn’t walk; she used seaweed to cover herself and was found by Onew.
Onew took care of her, taught her how to speak (since sirens have their own language) helped her learn how to walk, and of course, fell in love with her; and once she knew how to tell him, Taeyeon told him that she was a Siren. Onew excepted the fact, and asked her to sing for him; when she did, he felt nothing different, truly proving that he loved her. They married, and Taeyeon resigned herself to life on land, but she had to return to sea once a week so she wouldn’t die. They had four children, half-Siren, half-human. She is ten years old in Siren years, or 500 human years old, and spent half of those years on land with Onew.
Onew: Onew was a once perfectly normal human; he was a college student and loved to hang out by the beach. One day, while wandering the shore, he discovered Taeyeon, hiding behind a rock, completely naked except for a long dress made out of seaweed. He was honestly curious about her, and decided to help her by taking her back to his apartment.
He taught her how to walk, taught her how to talk, and basically taught her everything she knew; all the while, he fell in love with her. Soon, he learned that she was a siren, but bypassed the fact and asked for her hand in marriage. She accepted, and they had four children. Taeyeon also marked Onew as hers with a kiss; the kiss allows him to breathe underwater and live as long as sirens do. He lives long with Taeyeon, forever binded to her, spending over 250 years with her.
