It's graduation day! My last day as a teenager. It breaks my heart but warms it at the same time. I stand in the mirror beside my door fixing the last bit of my suit before I decide to start heading out. Today's my day where everything I've done pays off. Today is the day where I prove everyone that I was better than they ever thought I would be. Today is the day I accomplished my duties as a strong human being. Today is my graduation. Today I will walk across the stage and wave at the people who I have left. The ones who never lost faith in me and rode with me til the end. The very people who has helped me grow in every way possible. Today I am the very man that people who shot me down never expected me to be.
I straighten up my tie throwing my cap and gown walking out the house and to my car. Pushing the key into the ignition proceeding to start the car the pulling off.
. . .
"I would like to congratulate the class of 2013 for their breathtaking achievements. I'm very pleased to say that these students... these students are the new generation that will be taking care of us, and I'm proud to say that they came from my high school. The very high school I graduated from and now a principal of. I hope for all of you a better future to come. Congratulations class of 2013. Now I will be calling you up one by one to get your diplomas," The principals announces as he starts calling off names. Not to far a long he will be calling my name and I'll be making my way across that stage and into adulthood. I stand to my feet with the rest of the graduates in my row continuing to walk closer and closer to the stage on the football field. Fiddling with the tassel of my cap and taking a quick look at the crowd of families here for the graduates.
"Lewis Thompson." The principal calls as I walk his way. He shakes my right hand giving me full eye contact while handing my diploma underneath our shaking hands. "Congratulations Lewis! You made it," We turn towards the guy taking picture and then I walk off shaking the rest of administration.
