Freedom tasted sweet. Like- well, I don't know. Sweet. We had been free for an amount of months, I wasn't sure how many, but it couldn't have been any more than 4. It had been rough, but being with Zoe made it a whole lot easier. It was almost peaceful. Or so we thought.
I couldn't help but sigh as I clung to Zoe's waist atop the mighty bay. The wind whipped and curled with a soft rage, hurtling past my ears at extreme paces. Zoe's braid lashed behind her, her dark hair shining like the sun. I buried my head in her shoulder, and leaned into the curve of her back. I heard a faint noise from Zoe, like a content whimper. I had no choice but to smile.
