saddest day of my life

I held her hand tight as she hung from the cliff, her eyes were watering and so were mine. "Just let me go..I don't want you to fall with me!" She says through her tears. "But...I can't!" I say back, crying aswell. Everyone below the cliff was screaming and looking up at us, yelling at me to hold onto her. My hand was sweaty and before I knew it...She was falling through the air gracefully, her hands stretched out to me and her eyes wide open. I gasped and screamed, crying and holding my head from what I had just done.."it's all my fault..." I whisper "IT'S ALL MY FUCKING FAULT!!" I yell out, screaming up at the sky.

As she fell..Everyone screamed in horror. When she hit the ground..you could hear her bones break. People ran up to her and tried to help her, but it was no use..

I feel a hand on my shoulder, it was my dad. He whispered in my ear "you did the right thing..."
I get up and look at him "the right thing..the right thing...THE RIGHT GOD DAMN THING?! SHE'S DEAD NOW BECAUSE OF ME!! WHAT SORT OF DIRTY BASTARD ARE YOU?! HOW COULD YOU SAY THAT?" . My dad covers my mouth and sighs "you proved that you are strong and can let things go easily. It's not easy to do that, son." I shove him away from me and fall to the ground crying.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Me and my wife were supposed to have the most perfect date, sitting on a cliff and watching fireworks..then I would propose to her and we would kiss....
But as I was going to take the ring out of my pocket, a firework struck her leg, causing her to slip and fall, she slides across the ground until she hung helpless on the cliff's jagged edge. The cliff rocks dug into her hands causing her to lose balance and let go until I caught her hand swiftly. There was nothing I could do. I could not move. Nor speak since I was in sheer panic and shock.
