Professor Cruz: Okay class. As I told you yesterday, we will have a quiz in Geometry today. Don’t worry because it will not be recorded. I will just test you if you still remember anything about your mathematics last year. So, bring out a piece of paper and answer each question quietly.
What’s with him asking us to take a quiz which is not recorded? It’s just a waste of time. But, I can’t complain since I am new here. I need to follow and obey him. Maybe my other classmates feel the same way too but because our Prof. is a TERROR, they can’t do anything, too. Haha!!! While the teacher is writing the questions on the board, a boy came. The teacher glared at him and asked,
Professor Cruz: You are already in 2nd year high school but you are still late, Mr. Padilla! I will accept you this time since it is just our second day, but next time, you need to go to the detention room! Understand?
Boy: Yes, Sir!
Then, the so-called Mr. Padilla smiled at him. Every girl he passed by is whispering “OH MY GOSH! He’s so handsome!”
Yes, he’s handsome but I think he is irresponsible. He comes late, and he looks like a bad boy, or in other words, a BULLY! Then, he sat right next to me!

All the girls glared at me! For their information, I DON’T LIKE THIS GUY! Maybe he is also the school’s heartthrob that’s why they gave me their DEATH GLARE! Pfft! I’m just new here so stop thinking like that. After giving the questions, our professor goes out for a while.
The quiz is so EASY (not being proud, they called me a Math and Science Genius in my former schoolJ)! I finished the 15-question quiz in 10 minutes. I knew who is the brightest in this batch because I always see her in all contests. She smiled at me as I look at her. I smiled back, of course, because I don’t have friends yet, remember? Our professor is not yet coming back. What took him so long? I look at MR. PADILLA with the corner of my eyes. He is having a hard time answering our quiz. (I guess?). Five minutes had passed and our professor is not yet here. I am getting a little bored now. When I turned to my left, MR. PADILLA is looking at me! He gave me a smile.
Oh my gosh! He is handsome! But I have many rivals if ever, you know! I also smiled at him then looked away. He simply gave me a piece of paper. I read what’s written on it. “You’re new here, right? Anyway, I am Daniel Padilla. You can call me DJ for short. I am a basketball player, and maybe, you already know that I am a HEARTTHROB”.
WHAT?! He is so proud! I hate his attitude. Yes he is handsome but his attitude is so UGLY!!! >_< I was irritated because of his way of introducing himself. But my parents did not teach me to ignore people. So at the back of the paper, I write “Yes I am new here. My name is Kathryn Bernardo. I will tell you straight to the point that I hate your attitude, the way you introduce yourself to me. I don’t care if you are a varsity or if you are a heartthrob.”
Then, I gave it back to him. Finally, our professor arrived.
Professor Cruz: Sorry for waiting class. I hope you are all finish answering the quiz now. Please pass your paper to the center then forward. We still have 20 minutes left so every student will introduce themselves to the class. We will start with Ms. Bernardo. I know you already since you are always champion in every Inter-University contest. I hope you can bring honor to this school.
Everyone stared at me including Daniel. I simply introduce myself. There are only 32 students so in just 10 minutes, we already introduced ourselves. Then, Professor Cruz spoke up again.
Professor Cruz: I have an important announcement class. Next week, we will have a University Mathematics Week and everyone must join any contest. There will be also a pair activity per classroom. You can choose you own partner. You will have a simple Mathematical Research and you will submit it on or before the Annual Activity starts. The best research will have a special award. Actually, there are only two events which you can participate individually. The rest will be a pair activity. It means that your partner in your Mathematical Research will be your partner in all the pair activities you will be involve to. Ms. Bernardo and Ms. Balmeo, (he is referring to the brightest in their class, Jessica) you will join every contest because the two of you are the permanent contestant for this year’s Inter-University Math-Tinik Contest (WHAT?! IS HE SERIOUS :O). We will only choose one more since three students must participate. I know you already know each other since you always see each other. That’s all class. Please write your name and your partner’s name on a piece of clean paper and give it to Ms. Bernardo. Ms. Bernardo, you will give it to me before you take your lunch. I will be in my office. Mr. Padilla will accompany you because you are new here. Goodbye class. Please choose your partner very well.
