I was shaken awake. I woke up alert, reaching for something to use as a weapon.

"Woahh! Chill, Im not your mom amd im definitely not plastered!" Adrian said, laughing a nervous laugh that sounded fake. My eyes were open now and my senses were on, and I saw that we were in a sunny feild that seemed to be in the middle of nowhere. There were hills all around us, and the grass was bright green.

"Hey, did I dream that we..." I stopped, not sure how to finish that sentence. What even HAD happened last night?

"Yeah. We most certainly did." Adrian tiredly sighed, knowing exactly what I meant. I stayed quiet, but I got up. Adrian followed, not asking questions. I guess she trusted my survival instinct. I walked to the rop of one of the hills, thinking I coukd see if there was anything at all around us. From wherever we had landed (or travelled? Whatever we did) we couldnt see anything but grass for miles.

Once I reavhed the top of the hill, Adrian several feet behind me, I cheered. She hurried up the last few steps and laughed a breathless, happy laugh. We saw a house! It was an odd house, round and very tall with one section coming out on the forst floor. It was bright blue and looked like multiple people lived there.

Even though I was pretty out of shape, I sprinted at least a half a mile just to get to that house. Adrian ran cross country, so she was way ahead of me. Thankfully, though, she stopped a few yards away from the house and turned to face me, only sort of out of breath.

I, on the other hand, was panting and my legs hurted!! I complained for a while and she laughed, then we both ent to the deck. There was a hammock laying there. "I could really use a solid nap in that right about now," i groaned. Adrian smiled, then I knocked on the door softly.

I put my ear to the door since it didnt seem to have one of those little peep holes. I heard footsteps, so I smiled and got out of the way of the door.

A hippo came out of the door!! Well, not necessarily a hippo, I guess. It was a slightly off-white color with incredibly soft looking fur. It had big, round eyes and wore an apron with red and white stripes.

"Why, hello there! I'm Moominmamma, and this is Moominhouse. Who are you?" It seemed like a she.

"Moomin....?" Adrian whispered under her breath, barely moving her lips.

I breifly considered lying to her, but this lady seemed too polite and kind. "Uh, my name is (Y/N) and this is Adrian." I said.

"Its lovely to meet you both! What are you doing here in Moomin Valley?" Moominmamma smiled.

"Moomin Valley?" I asked.

"We dont actually know where we are," Adrian said, rubbing the back of her neck.

"Oh my goodness! Youre lost?" She said, eyes darting back and forth between us two girls.

"I suppose thats the best way to describe it," I said. Moominmamma invited us in, and we saw two more of the hippo creatures sitting at a dinner table. The house, on the inside, reminded me of some kind of family cabin. Most furniture, walls, and even flooring was wooden. There were lots of photos and decorations everywhere, it was a little messy but it looked lived-in and homey.

Moominmamma, with no hesitation, introduced us to the other two 'moomins.' The one with the hat, as we found out, was Moominpappa. The white one with bright blue eyes was simply named Moomin. Adrian glanced at me with a look that said "this sure is weird." I nodded, widening my eyes to say "yikes!" And she perfectly understood.

"It's nice to meet you! Are you moving into Moomin Valley?" Moominpappa said with his almost deep, but very friendly voice.

"No, sir. It's a little complicated." I said.

"They're lost!" Explained Moominmamma.

"Lost! Where on earth do you come from?" Moomin asked.

I heard Adrian say under her breath, "oh good, we're still on earth." Then she decided to speak up, and said, "As far as we know, a long long way from here. We don't know how we got here."

"What do you mean?" Asked Moominpappa.

"We were hanging out at home, passed out, and now we're here," explained Adrian. I gave her a side eye, but tried not to be obvious. It did make sense that she didn't want to tell this random family every piece of our story. Now that I think about it, for all we know they could have caused us to fall down that massive hole! Or maybe we're just hallucinating this family of almost-hippos. Maybe this is heaven!! Or hell. I haven't the slightest idea.

"Uh, (Y/N)? Hullooooo?" Adrian said, pulling me out of my thoughts.

"Huh?" I said, brilliantly.

"We were just wondering if you'd like to stay here while you figure out what happened to you! We've got plenty of spare room." Moominmamma said, smiling. I looked back and forth between her and Adrian. Adrian looked uncharacteristically unsure. She hadn't seemed to trust the Moomins much, but, then again, when did she trust anyone? The Moomin-parents both donned their nicest grins, and Moomin was looking at me with nothing but curiosity.

"Sure!" I said.
