Chapter 1
"Estelle?"
I looked up, the whole class was staring at me along with Ms White. I looked at her clueless. I hated Physics.
"What's the answer?" She asked me.
Shit! Umm... I don't know. I had no clue. I started looking at my notes and then at the board trying to get the answer but I gave up. It was just a hard class that I did not know what I was doing.
"We don't have all day Estelle come on." Ms White spoke once again. And I suddenly didn't like her.
"Umm...." I started mumbling. I didn't do well under pressure. Never did.
"14.6." Someone whispered to my left.
"14.6." I answered loudly. I didn't know if it was right but it was better than saying nothing and Ms White always demanded an answer. She started to write the answer on the board and I knew that it was the right answer then. I turned to the person who helped me. It was a brown haired girl with beautiful shining blue eyes. I recognized her well because Skylar used to hang with her, although I didn't talk to her.
"Thank you!" I smiled at her.
"No problem, she saw you zoning out and that's why Ms White called on you. She likes to call on people when they're off guard. I've been in your place before so I know how it feels and I'm Tori by the way." She smiled at me with her amazing blue eyes.
"Estelle if you didn't know already."I shyly smiled at her.
I turned to the lesson again so at least I would know what we were doing. I checked at the clock and it was already time to leave. Thank god! I started putting my stuff away while Ms White was announcing the homework. The bell rang and I quickly put my stuff away into my one strap bag when I heard my name being called. I turned around in the direction of the voice and it was Tori. She came next to me and waited for me to put my stuff away .
"So we should have lunch together." She proposed.
"Are you sure that's a good idea? It's not that I don't want to hang with you I just don't want to seem like I'm intruding." I said not trying to sound like I was rejecting her.
I wasn't a social person in general and plus I didn't have a lot of friends. I was okay with it though. I would rather be by myself then hang with a group of people. The only friends I ever had were Skylar well she was my friend but she left after freshman year and Hunter who was my best friend right now. Hunter and I grew up together so he was like my big brother even though I was older than him. Hunter has been sick for almost two weeks now and I missed him. I did visit him everyday though and we just talked while I did my homework.
"No no trust me it would be nice to have someone else at the table besides my usual friends. It gets boring sometimes but don't tell them I said that." She joked.
"Okay fine and I won't." I said while laughing.
After we got our lunch Tori guided me to her table where there were already people sitting around it. The first girl that I noticed was Gabriella and I knew her because she was the best dancer in the school and her best friend Sabrina who had a killer body and was also on the dance team. Next to them was a guy who I didn't know but was throwing a football around to aonther guy. In front of them was Cameron who I knew because of Hunter and we sat next to him becase the seats were empty. As soon as I put my food down everyone except Tori was staring at me. I started to feel uncomfortable suddenly. I knew I didn't fit in their group.
"So guys this is Estelle and she's my new friend and she'll be sitting with us today." Tori once again came to my rescue. I mentally thanked her.
"Estelle this is Gabriella, Sabrina,Brady and Cameron." She pointed to each of them.
"Hi!" I said to everyone.
They either said hi back or nodded their heads.
"Hey you're friends with Hunter right how is he?" Cameron asked me.
"Yeah he's getting better every day but not better enough to come to school." I responed to him while taking a bite of my burger.
"So guys are we going to the movies this saturday like we planned or not?" Gabriella asked. I knew this was directed to everyone else but me. I didn't care though.
"Yeah we are just gotta convince my mom to give us the SUV and we're good to go." Brady said.
"You can come too Estelle." Cameron had suddenly said. I was surprised.
"No it's okay I get it that you want to go with your friends." Did I want to go with them to the movies? I don't know. I didn't have nothing better to do but I wasn't used to their group of people. There weren't people that I would hang out every day not that they were bad it's just new for me.
"No you should come with us." Gabrielle smiled.
"Plus we need an extra girl to choose between which movie should we watch." This time it was Tori who spoke.
Suddenly our table started to occupy with more people that I din't know. I wasn't used to them. Then another guy came and sat opposite me.
My eyes traced his tall slender figure, from his messy brown hair down to his jersey. His eyes warm, a range of soft colours. I took a deep breath, inhaling his overly strong cologne. Naturally, I found myself nearly gagging on the powerful scent. However,his face prevented that because it was a familiar one. He looked at everyone and his eyes landed on me. He was suddenly surprised and his brows furrowed.
I suddenly recognized him, it was Jayden. Everyone knew him and everyone liked him. I had to admit he was good looking but he wasn't my type. I remember Jayden since freshman year who used to always get me mad by taking my stuff. And while I was pissed he used to laugh. His nickname for me was clumsy because I would always fall on flat ground. Yeah I was one of those people. He aslo dated Skylar at that time. But then something happened and he never talked to me again. I still don't know the reason why and I was kinda curious but never got to ask him that. And I never probaly would.
He hugged Gabriella and started taking her food. Okay so maybe they were dating. Then he placed a kiss on her cheek. Okay there were definitely dating. I turned away in disgust.
"So Jay this is Parker one of my new friends." I was more than awkward sitting there chewing my food, sweat plastering on my face. I couldn't even look at him. What was happening?
"Hi Estelle!" He nodded his head in 'hey' gesture.
"Hi!" I mumbled my voice coming out strange.
He stared at me and I tried holding his gaze by staring back, but I couldn't. Shame washed over me and I turned my eyes to my food. He was so intimidating. I'm pretty sure he didn't even remember who I was.
I turned my attention to my food when I heard my phone vibrate on my pocket. I put the fork down and I opened my phone. I had a text from Hunter.
Can you please go and pick up Kayla from school cause mom is working late. thanks oh and don't forget my oreos or i'll kill you :p
I laughed at the message that he had sent. Hunter was in a very good shape but he did love his oreos. Kayla was also Hunter's little sister that I adored. She was in first grade and she was too cute. Whenever I went to Hunter's house which was everyday I would see her and she would jumping up and down because she was excited to see me. She was like a ray of sunshine.
I quickly replied back.
Yeah don't worry I'll pick her up and i think you should cut down on the oreos buddy because you're gonna get fat since you don't play football anymore.
After ten seconds later he replied.
Just do the job Evans and don't worry about me getting fat I'll handle it.
I left the conversation like that and put my phone back on my pocket. I turned my attention to the table and they were still discussing about what movie should they watch. Well it was mostly Gabriella and Cameron discussing while I sneakily took a peek at Jayden who was already staring at me with a blank look on his face. I immediately looked away, too embarrassed to look at him in the eyes again.
