Anyone recognize my version of a very familiar phrase? That's right guys, I've pulled out my copy of The Last Battle! I'm going to use a lot of bits from the book, so I restate what I said at the beginning of the book: I OWN NOTHING EXCEPT MY OCS AND ORIGINAL PLOT.
Also, this is the last time jump for a bit. :) There'll be officially one more after this, but it won't be until the very end.
My last note before I shut up is this: REMEMBER THAT SIGNIFICANT NUMBER FROM CHAPTER 31. IT COMES INTO PLAY IN THE NEXT CHAPTER.

- Whenever You Remember ~ Carrie Underwood

I closed the car door behind me and walked to the door with Peter by my side. It was unfavorably cold despite it was the middle of March. I shivered as we stood in front of the door. Peter rubbed my arm and knocked on the door. A girl, Eustace's best friend, opened the door and smiled brightly at us. "You must be Laurel and Peter. I'm Jill Pole. Come in, you must be freezing!" She ushered us in and took our coats.
I took off my shoes and smiled at the girl who couldn't have been much younger than Lucy. "Thank you for having us, Jill." I said politely. "It's my pleasure. Everyone's in the dining room. Come." We walked into the room to find Lucy, Edmund, Eustace, and two older adults sitting at a large, round table, chatting over appetizers.
They all looked to us as we crossed into the room. Lucy and Ed stood up from the table to greet us. I hugged them both tightly then turned to see Eustace shifting awkwardly. I smiled and gave him a hug, too. "How are you, Eustace? It's been much too long." He was taken aback by my hug, but returned the hug after a few seconds.
"I'm great, how are you?" I frowned, comparing my height to his with my hand. "You've grown several inches last I saw you. And my, you've been working out. Look at those guns!" I exclaimed, squeezing his biceps. Dang, this kid has really changed from a scrawny boy to a buff, young man.
Eustace flushed bright red while Edmund sniggered in the background. He snapped at us to shut up and stomped off to his seat. Peter sighed and commented lowly, "That's the Eustace I remember." I shrugged. "Narnia changes you. Look at all of us." He nodded absentmindedly, suddenly looking at something behind me.
That "something" turned out to be a "someone". The older man and women came around and joined us in our little greetings. Peter shook the man's hand, beaming. "Professor! It's wonderful to see you again!" My eyes darted to the man. So this was Digory Kirke. When we were officially introduced, I smiled and stated, "It's a pleasure to finally meet you, Professor." He adjusted his glasses and replied, "And I you, Miss Collins. This is my long time friend Polly Plummer." As I shook her hand, she told us to call her "Aunt" Polly instead of Ms. Plummer.
As we made polite small talk for a few minutes, Jill went into another room to check on the food. When it was done, we all took a seat at the table and dug in. Peter was on my right, who had the Professor on his other side and "Aunt" Polly. Edmund was on her other side with Lucy, Jill, and Eustace completing the rest of the circle. Silence reigned for three minutes before the stories started to be told. Everyone took turns laughing, remembering our times in Narnia, telling jokes only the eight of us would get, sharing adventures none of us knew about, and talking about every little thing from our adventures.
Jill and Eustace told us about their journey to save Prince Rillian, Caspian's only son, from a witch. The Pevensies and I talked about the Golden Age. Professor Kirke and Aunt Polly even explained Narnia's creation and elaborated on their adventure. My heart felt so light with all the happiness and laughter from one single night. It hadn't felt so free since being in Narnia itself.
