You got out of your car and stood in front of your childhood apartment. The building itself was built in the early 1930s but was in pretty good shape, to say the least. The front door was open and you walk towards the elevator.

Out of Service

You were not surprised in the slightest. This has been an ongoing occurrence for years, so you just go to the stairs and walk up. Thank the heavens you lived on the first floor, so your heels wouldn't be killing you.

Once arriving at your old family home, a horrible stench came from the apartment. The door was open and you covered your nose and walked in. It looked like a tornado has come in and destroyed the place.

Open vodka and beer bottles flooded the floor and a bucket filled with throw up.

"This place is disgusting" The worse you've seen in it in a while. You kept walking around the apartment and see your father pissed out drunk on the floor.

"Not again" You groaned quietly

You slightly kick him and your father slowly sits up. His eyes are all red and fucked up.

"Dad, what the hell is wrong with you?"

"Ah shut up" Your father slurred "You ain't shit to me"

You scoffed at him.

"Yeah, I never did huh?" Tears started to brim in your eyes "Well, I'm not worried. I'm living my best life, got my husband, my family, you ain't shit to me either"

His eyes were glossy and he just stared past you. He kept swaying his head slowly back and forth.

"Piece of shit" He slurred out

"Guess I learned it from you" And with that, you rush out of the door and slam it shut. That fucking bastard. Ever since you were little, he has never been fond of you. He didn't like how you were different from your siblings, how you always spoke your mind, how... you were exactly like your mother. You looked and acted like her in every way. The big brown eyes, short stature, and optimistic outlook on life. You missed her dearly, and you've always wondered what made her marry your deadbeat father. She was too good for the world, so God had to take her early.

You wipe the tears streaming down your face and run to the car. You sit in the car and lay your head back. You angrily slam your hand on the wheel.

"Idiot. Such a fucking idiot"

You take out your phone proceeded to call your husband.

"Hello?" He says half asleep

"Sorry to interrupt your sleep, are the kids sleeping?" You say sniffling

"Yeah, is everything alright?"

"Everything is fine, I just don't want the kids to see me look all... disheveled"

"What's wrong?" He says starting to panic

"Tommy I'm alright, I'll talk to you when I'm home alright?"

"I love you y/n"

"I love you too. I'll see you later"

You hung up the phone and tossed it in the back of the car.

You drive on the empty highway, your mind was totally distracted. You never cared for your father at all, but you were hoping that he would change. He promised he would, but with an alcoholic you know it's just an empty promise.

You arrive home and when you open the door, you see Tom peacefully sleeping on the couch. You quietly close the front door and take off your heels.

"Hey darling," Tom says tiredly

"Hey honey" You walk towards him and you wrap your arms around his waist. You tried to control your tears but they just kept on flowing.

"Y/n let's talk about it please?" He pleaded

He rubbed your back as you started to cry aloud.

"I saw m-my father today," You said trying to keep it together

"Did he improve?"

"No. If a-anything, he's worse than before. Fucking waste of oxygen"

"Y/n you're 28 years old now. I know he's your father but you don't need to worry about him, you're not his babysitter. You have your own family, you have your own worries."

You let go of him and you sit on the couch, him following after you. Your crying had calmed down a little but once you look at Tom, smiling his reassuring smile, you couldn't help but start to tear up again.

"You're such a good father to our kids" You smile

You start to chuckle as he wipes the tears off of your face.

"I have no idea what I would do without you," You say kissing him.

"I'll never leave you y/n I promise you that much"

"I know you won't. You could never get enough of this chocolate cake"

The two of you both shared a laugh and he kisses you again.

"Feel better love?" He asks

"A lot better babe"

"Great! Now, how about we go upstairs so I can be a father of two, to a father of three" He says winking at you.

You playfully slap his shoulder and he picks you up bridal style, kissing you all over your body.

"I love you darling"

"Mhhm and I love you too"
