Useless

I haven't talked to Kate or Ace in three days. I sat at lunch by myself, and talked to nobody. Everyone would whisper and stare at me whenever I walked down the hallway, and nobody would say anything to me. I started working on the science project myself, since I had given up working on it with them. Every class I had with them, nobody said a single word to anybody. Kate would talk with Ace, but never with me.

It has become so quiet, I'm slowly losing my mind.

Today, was the same cycle, except I had Mr. Simmons today.

As I came into class and sat down, I had realized that I was the only one there.

"Early again, are we?" He asked, chuckling.

"Yeah, I guess."

"Well, here's the textbook pages." He said, tapping on the board with his pencil.

I pulled out my notebook and textbook, and began to read the pages.

Soon, students started to pour in, as usual. Then came in Ace and Kate, Kate smiling happily and chatting, and Ace, with a slight smile on his face.

Kate glanced at me. Her expression immediately went blank and she stopped talking. I looked down. Ace looked in my direction. I gripped my book, and focused on it even more.

I can't worry about them.

They both sat down and took out their books and pencils.

The class was slow, and droned on for a while, and finally, the bell rang.

Everyone quickly rushed out, except for me. I slowly gathered my belongings.

"Poison." A familiar, smooth, calming voice called.

"Y-yes?" I asked.

It was Mr. Simmons, beckoning me over.

I came up to his desk.

"You seem glum." He stated, leaning on his hand.

"I-I'm fine..." I said, clutching my bag strap.

He stood up. "Is that so?"

"Y-yes."

"Are you sure?" He came closer.

My grip on my bag tightened.

He grabbed my chin and made me look in his eyes.

"I-I..." I began.

"I knew it." He said, then suddenly pushed me against his desk.

My eyes widened.
