Ahmir held tight to Louis' hand. He had turned back once more to wave at his parents and he could still see his mother's tears. "Mummy is always crying," he said trying to make light of the situation but he was trying not to cry. He didn't want to cry in front of his parents or his uncle.
"That's what mummy's do," Louis said as they walked to their seats. "Do you want the window seat?" He asked.
Ahmir nodded and he scooted in and sat down. He handed Louis his backpack. "Yeah but my mummy cries a lot." He pulled out his phone and saw that his mummy had put in all of the numbers he needed and then he went to the camera roll and saw she had also put on so many pictures of his family on there. "Look What mummy gave me."
"Big man on campus with your new phone," Louis smiled as he placed their items in the overhead bins. "I got you some juice," he said placing the drinks on his seat and he put his iPad in the front seat jacket pocket before sitting down. "Nice photos. So do you want to take a selfie and send it to your parents?"
Ahmir nodded and handed Louis his phone. "We can't tell Destiny though mummy said," he told him with a laugh.
"Love it," Louis smirked. "Say cheese."
Ahmir grinned as Louis snapped a couple of pictures of them. Some nice and then a whole bunch of silly ones.
"Uncle Lou..."
"Yes, Ahmir," Louis said as he sent off the photos to Kaia as well as Marian.
"Thank you for taking me home." He said to him. "I don't think mummy could've done it."
"You're welcome. I needed a reason to go back home to London. You and I are mates, so I'm happy to help. Ready for the long haul back home?"
Ahmir nodded. "How come you stayed away from home for so long?" He asked as he buckled his seat belt.
"Well, I was taking a break from work and have been working and accepting the fact that your Auntie Marian." He paused for a moment. "She doesn't remember me, after her surgery, she lost memories and I was one of the people she lost. I work with her father so I have been putting it off going back. Afraid to see her knowing she has no idea who I really am anymore."
Ahmir tilted his head as he looked at him. "Maybe I can help her remember you," he told him. "But why are you afraid?"
"Because what if she hates me? I couldn't bear it. What if she remembers that we lost our baby and I left her when she needed me," Louis blinked back his tears. "I love her, but she belongs to Uncle Harry now. I need to move on and accept it. If any of that makes sense and I'm not a babbling idiot."
"Uncle Lou you aren't an idiot," he said. "I don't think T hates anyone. She gets mad at mummy all the time but they always make up." He looked out the window and then he could feel the plane begin to move. He looked out the window and he could see his mummy standing by the large windows watching. He quickly wiped his tears. He didn't want to look like a baby.
"Finger crossed buddy," Louis told him. A flight attendant called for everyone's attention as she went over the rules of the plane for the flight.
Even though he had flown before, this was the first time he'd flown without his parents. "I'll help you with T if you want me to Uncle Lou," he said as the plane taxied to the runway. He glanced back at the airport and wondered if his parents were still there watching.
"Thanks, buddy, I appreciate that. I really don't want to lose her from my life. I could use the help because I don't think Harry will be all too happy about it."
Ahmir rolled his eyes at the mention of Harry. "He's a turd sometimes."
"Agreed, but Harry is her husband so we have to respect that and try to be nice. For Auntie Marian's sake." He said. "Ready to see Faith again? You'll finally have some competition," he teased.
