One would expect parents to lock their underage daughters at homes, in fear of them being kidnapped. But, in the former capital city, they were locking not the girls, but the boys. It always baffled trespassers, who didn't know of the plague that hunted this city - the younger brother of the City Master, Xue Mei. Why were the boys not allowed outdoors after 6 p.m? That was the curfew reasonable parents were setting. The more fearful ones would say 5 p.m! The ones that didn't care were sparse, since it was often about family heirs. Even the rich families were strict.
Those trespassers either dismissed it, or blamed slave traders. Well, those were partially at fault. Their input into the fear of citizens was about 30%. They knew who was the real culprit only if they asked - answer would always be "Xue Mei". The horrible, lewd, lustful monster. Of course, people were accepting of normal sexual desires - nobody would shame him for ordinary lust, maybe just gossip would spread. But this, was no ordinary lust. When one desires forbidden, one must face the consequences.
...
And unexpectedly, those consequences came in a form of a black - cloaked boy, who one night jumped above the city walls, with a white falcon flying next to him.

Hua Shu considered going home, after freeing his friend. Considered. But exploring this world was a much more captivating prospect. Besides, he had a lot of time before he would need to go back, so why not wonder for a bit? Remembering the map of this place (which he saw by chance, when still in his astral form) he decided on a travel to a nearby city - Ji city. It was presumably a former capital of a country bordering the Hua clan. Some of the Hua, still believed themselves to belong to that country. Or that the country belonged to them. It was understandable, since it was a fraction of the Hua that established this kingdom. But, already a long time ago, the kingdom became independent, and the clan didn't rule there.
That's why the previous capital - the Ji city - was so close to the border. Probably a family sentiment of the first ruler. Who knows? Right now there was a different capital anyway, so it didn't really matter.

Hua Shu got the griffin to pinpoint north for him. The beast had a natural compass in its brain, so it wasn't a problem. Hua clan complex was east, Ji city was west. By that, Hua Shu turned the right direction.
Though their destination was quite far - around 20 kilometres - they got there in no time. Thanks to Hua Shu's cultivation realm, he could move at incredible speeds, with the beast being no different. Both travelled at 120 km/h, not even running. It partially baffled Hua Shu, who wasn't accustomed to baring such power. In his last world, he only got to green realm, and there he wasn't able to unwind speeds any similar to this. In the void, on the other hand, he just couldn't clearly see his abilities, 'cause it was the void. You know, the place with nothing in it. Not even actual space. So, this was his first real time using his full potential. And he enjoyed it.
Enjoyed it so much!
Though being unable to truly feel the wind against his skin, the rush, or the earth beneath his feet, he was content. The world - however it presented itself - smeared into smudges, as he walked forward. Yeah, walked. After not being able to lift a finger for a few lives, this was like a dream. Astral form didn't count, and in his previous life it was unpleasant, because of his low cultivation realm. Now, it was finally fulfilling. Almost like real...
They passed a few villages and towns, before getting to the Ji city. It was big, almost extending beyond Hua Shu's 'radar'. A tall wall protected it, with only two gates, on two opposite sides of the city. Of course, he wouldn't bother to use them - maybe by not doing that, he was braking the law, but going by rules would be risky. At the moment he probably looked like a stereotypical Disney villain, and that wouldn't make a good impression on border guards. On anyone, if that matters. So, they likely wouldn't want to let him in.
