Fulfilment of a Prophecy

Is the current changes in the Middle East a sign on the fulfillment of a Prophecy made by the Prophet pbuh? Only time will tell. There are various hadith mentioned by the Prophet pbuh on the Signs of the Last Day and many of them have been fulfilled. These are the minor signs and yet there are quite a few which have not been fulfilled yet. I would like to mention two in this note.

Appearance of a Mountain of Gold

There will be a mountain of gold that will appear along the Euphrates River. There has been much interpretation as to the meaning of gold. There has been some who had interpreted it as oil (black gold) but its true meaning is real gold as we know it.

It was narrated by Abu Hurairah ra that the Prophet pbuh said: The Last Hour would not happen until the Euphrates uncovers a mountain of gold, for which people would fight. Ninety-nine out of every hundred would perish and every person amongst them would say that he would perhaps be the one to be saved. ( Sahih Muslim )

It was narrated by Abu Hurairah ra that the Prophet pbuh said: The Euphrates is close to uncover a mountain of gold, so for those who witnessed it should not take any portion of it.( Sahih Muslim )

Abdullah Ibn AlHarith Ibn Naufal narrates: I was standing with Ubay Ibn Kaab and he said: The opinions of the people differ with regards to the achievement of worldly matters. I said: Yes,surely. Then he said: I heard the Prophet pbuh said: The Euphrates is about to uncover a mountain of gold and when the people hear of it, they would rush towards it.Then the people close to it would say: If we allow these people to take any portion of it, soon all of it would be gone. So they would fight over it and ninety-nine out of one hundred would be killed.( Sahih Muslim )

The Euphrates River is 2700km long.It begins in Turkey and empties into the Persian Gulf.The Euphrates and Tigris run parallel to each other and the land between the Euphrates and the Tigris is known as Mesopotamia, which means "between the rivers" in Greek.

War Between Muslims and Jews 

It was narrated by Abu Hurairah ra that the Prophet pbuh said: The last hour would not happen until the Muslims wage war against the Jews. And the Muslims would kill them until the Jews would hide behind a stone or a tree and the stone or the tree would say: O Muslim, O servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him. Except for the tree of gharqad for it is the tree of the Jews. ( Sahih Muslim )
