It's a beautiful sunny day and I am locking myself in my room to blog. I must be pathetic. My parents keep getting mad at me for not being a "productive" person, I only learn from the best. Tumblr is pretty slow today, not a lot to look at. Of course I have the occasional pictures of favorite celebrities or cat photos or funny text posts but they are all over done. I think I have come to the conclusion that I need a life.
No, that would involve socializing. I'm not social.
I sigh as I look out the window. The sun is shining through and kids are laughing as they play outside. If only they knew that they wouldn't be doing that in years to come. It's sad to see the definition of fun change, well kind of.
I sigh as I hear a knock on my door. "Come in" I say, pretending to be doing something important. I look up as my mom walks in. She shakes her head in clear disappointment. "Do you ever go outside?" She asked, a small laugh followed after. "I choose not too" I say, looking back at my computer. I watch as my computer gets closed slowly and I look up at my mom. "What?" I ask, clearly annoyed. "You're taking your sister to the park. Who knows, maybe you'll make friends" she smiled. I just stared at her. "Why?" "Because I need a break and you love me." She replied with a smile. "Do I?" I asked, getting off my bed and putting my hair up in a bun. "Of course" she said, walking out.
I shook my head as I pulled on a red blouse and white skinny jeans. Just because I stay inside all day doesn't mean I don't have a little bit of style. Tumblr is filled with cute styles, they stick sometimes.
I fix my bun, putting two strands of hair on both sides of my face. I put on light eye shadow and a thin line of eye liner. "Katie! You take forever! Take me to the park!" My lovely sister screams as she makes her way to the bathroom. Her hair was knotted and anger was clear on her face. I sigh and quickly put mascara on and smile. Perfect, I am now ready to leave. Sadly, my sister isn't.
"Let me fix your hair" I said, taking out the detangling spray and a brush. She just glares at me and shakes her head. "We are leaving now. Right now" she says, glaring at me then running off. Oh how I love my siblings. "Sierra,I'm not going unless you let me fix your hair" I yelled. I heard footsteps run back and a frown was clear on her face. "You're no fun" she said, standing in front of me. I smile and spray her hair, gently pulling through it. "Oh well" I smirk. She rolls her eyes then stands still.
I finish putting her hair in a braid. "We can now go" I said. She smiled and ran out of the bathroom. I sighed as I went to my room and grabbed a book to read. I covered all of my new books in paper bags so I could be surprised at what I chose. I'm hoping today's book will be a good one.
I walk downstairs to the front door. I am greeted with an anxious 6 year old. "Come on" she said, pulling at my arm. "Bye mom, we're leaving!" I yelled, opening the door. Almost on que I hear footsteps running down the stairs. "I'm coming with, mom is in a mood" my brother says. "Max, don't be rude. Plus how do you know that?" I asked, putting a hand on my hip. "Because if she is making you go outside it means business" he said, Sierra started laughing as she walked out the door. He followed shortly behind her, a smirk clear on his face. "Hey, I go outside" I said, crossing my arms. "Yeah like once a year" I glare at him. "At least 181" I reply with a smile, walking out the door and closing it behind me. "Yeah, out of force" he remarks. I walk faster to catch up with him. "One day you will understand" I sighed. "That's what you said when you were 14, I still don't understand" he laughed. I smile as I laugh with him. He's such a weird kid. I look ahead and realize that we are missing someone. "Hey, where is Bailey?" "She's out with friends, she's never home. You would know that if you ever went out of your room" Max said. His voice sounded sad as he said it. I felt kind of bad.
...
We walked to the park in silence. There wasn't much to say after our small descussion.
When we arrived Sierra sprinted to the swings on the playground, they have always been her favorite thing. I looked around the park as I realized that the park was much bigger than I remember it. Park benches lined the walkway that surrounded the park, there was a big grass field being occupied by soccer players, it was alive. The park was alive. I loved it but hated it all at the same time. There was a small river that had a small bridge you could cross over, I watched as Max went over to it and watched the river flow. His head was hung low and a frown was clear on his face. I can't believe I messed up with him again.
I was lost in thought when I heard my name being called. "Katie! Katie! Katie! Katie listen to me! Katie" my sister yelled. "What?" I said, turning to look at her. People were watching us, my cheeks turned red. I quickly walked over to the swing area where she was and observed. She wasn't kicking her feet and her hand held her knee. "What happened?" I asked. She shrugged and took her hand away, revealing the fresh wound she had made. Typical, I should've known she would hurt herself in the first 5 minutes.
"Come on, let's go wash that off" I said taking her hand. We went to the fountain and got some water on her knee. "There all better" I said. She just sat and stared at me. "You're so lame" was all she said before she ran off. "You're welcome" I yelled, shaking my head.
I looked down at my hands, there was some dirt on them. I washed them off and smiled as I looked at the book I picked today. I slowly took off the paper bag and smiled as I took off the blue covering. The Fault In Our Stars, perfect. I opened it quickly an started to read, the first line already made me intrigued to keep reading. I don't understand why though. I closed my book and made my way over to a park bench.
I opened up my book and kept reading, instantly I got absorbed by the details and the perfection of every word. I let out a small laugh when I got to the part where he texted her about an Imperial Affliction. It would drive me crazy if a book ended within the middle of a sentance. I had just finished my small laugh when I heard a deep but sweet voice beside me. "Hello" the voice said. "Augustus?" I ask, looking up from my book. A pair of hazel eyes meet mine as they light up with laughter. Why can't I be normal?
"No, I wish though. My name is Ashton. Do you mind if I sit here?" I looked down the row of benches that were free but decided it would be fine. "Sure" I smiled. He took a seat and smiled at me. "What?" I asked."You're Katie right? I've seen you around" he said. "Y-yeah I am. Where?" I feel like I am understandably confused considering I only sit in my room all day. "I work at Barnes and Noble. I'm usually leaving when you come in but I mean last time you came in I almost helped you check out" he said but started mumbling. I giggled a little, it felt unnatural. "Well I'll make sure to look for you next time" I said with a smile. "Great, I do have a question though. You buy so many books but then cover them up, why do you do that?" I felt a blush come to my face. No one noticed that before. "Um, well I, it's like. I like books a lot, I also like surprises. So I cover up the books so I can get excited about what I get to read. It's one of my quirks I guess" I mumbled towards the end. "That is so smart, it's a great way to read. You are a genius!" He praised. I laughed a little, "thanks" I replied. There was an awkward silence that followed. "So...what part are yo-" "Ashton! Let's go, Harry's game is about to start" "Okay, I'll be there in a second" he yelled back to what I assume is his sister. "I got to go to my brothers game but I'll see you around Katie" he smiled. "Yeah, I'll see you around" I quietly said. He nodded and stood up running off. He is perfect.
