Chapter 6 - A Day Off

POV Damian
    I heard the sound of my alarm going off meaning it was time to wake up for work. I went to turn over to turn it off but I felt something holding my arm down. I opened my eyes fully to see Courtney laying on my arm. I didn't want to wake her by moving but I need to turn the alarm off. I slowly pulled my arm from under her and got the alarm turned off. I got out of bed, grabbed some clothes and went to the bathroom to get ready. After showering and changing I got a text from Ian saying that we all had a day off today. Since I was already up and ready I went to make a nice breakfast for Courtney.
"Mmm what's that smell" I turned to see Courtney with tired eyes slowly walking over to me.
"We have the day off today so I thought I would make us something for breakfast" I said finishing up the pancakes.
"It looks amazing" she said "and smells even better." We sat and eat breakfast while talking. We got to know each other even better. Soon we finished and did the dishes together. "Hey Damien" Courtney said quietly.
"Yeah?"
"Do you think that we can go to my apartment and pack up the rest of the stuff I couldn't get yesterday" she asked with a soft quiet voice.
    "Of course we can" I said without hesitation. "Go get dressed and when you're ready we'll go get your stuff then we can go get lunch after."
    "Thank you so much" she said wrapping her arms around me.
    "No problem" I said hugging back. "Go get dressed I'll finish up here." I finished washing the dishes as Courtney changed. Soon I saw her standing I saw her wearing a blue and pink striped shirt with black shorts.
    "Are you ready" she asked.
    "Yeah let's go we can take my car" I said grabbing my keys. When we got in the car I started it and turned up my radio slightly.
    "Oh I love this song" Courtney said. "Can I turn it up?"
    "Yeah go for it" I said. She turned the radio up and sang happily along to the music and danced around a little. Soon I joined in the sing and we sang the whole way to her apartment. Once we pulled up I looked over to her and say her sad eyes start to gloss over. "Hey is going to be okay I'm here" I said placing a hand on hers. She looked over and didn't say anything but just smiled. We walked in and started to get the rest of her stuff while Jake was at work. We were quiet while we worked. It wasn't an awkward quiet but a peaceful one. We packed for around and hour and we had one more suitcase to fill and we could be done. She opened a drawer that was filled with the rest of her shorts and swimsuits.
    "This is it and we'll be done" she said while a sigh. "Shit" I heard as I put the suitcase on the bed so she could fill it.
    "What's wrong?"
    "I didn't think where am I going to go" she said with tears forming in her eyes. I quickly go to her and hug her.
    "Well you're going with me and we'll move you into the guest room. If that's okay with you" I said stroking her hair to calm her down. She nodded her head and went back to packing up her stuff. After she finished we went back to my apartment to get all the boxes and suitcases out of my car from today and hers from last night. That took us around thirty minutes to finish so after we went to eat. We had a good time eating and then we walked around the mall when I saw Courtney stop and it looked like she had seen a ghost. I looked to see Jake with another girl. I quickly took Courtney out of the mall and back home. "I'm so sorry Court" I said with her in my arms once again.
    "It's okay. I just spent so much time with him and he's already replaced me" she said quietly. I took her to the couch where she fell asleep so quickly. I looked down so see her peacefully sleeping.
    "I'm so sorry Courtney" I said once again and placed a soft kiss on her forehead. "I promise I will protect you from now on."
