CHAPTER SIX

CHAPTER SIX- t h e b o y i n t h e
w i n d o w

It was the next day and Y/n slept until the last minute before she had to get up, after being out so late she had the best night of sleep in a long time. No nightmares or voices in her head, just a peaceful night of sleep. Y/n rolled out of bed, Rose stood in front of the mirror brushing her hair and Roxanne was already done, she stood in the door opening and waited. Y/n changed into her uniform and brushed her hair lightly, when she was done she walked down to the great hall together with Roxanne and Rose. Everything seemed normal, after everything that happened in Y/n's first year was she afraid that the attacker would come back but it never did. The professors smiled and talked, at the ravenclaw table was one student proudly bragging about something, possibly a test. At the hufflepuff table was Allison talking to Henry and Lucas, not so much was happening there. At the Slytherin table was Karl Jenkins bragging to his friends. "Do you mind If I go and sit with Lucas?" Y/n asked Rose and Roxanne. They shook their head "of course not, you can sit with who you want" Roxanne assured , she smiled at Roxanne and walked over to Lucas, and just as she sat down walked three specific boys over to them. Dean winked and Allison and flirted with her, Henry crossed his arms and stared protective at her. Y/n turned to face Lucas, she smiled at him "I have missed talking to you. Anything new in your love life?" Y/n asked and wiggled her eyebrows. Lucas laughed at his cousin "Well, I feel like it's going great. We can talk to each other without it being awkward, I like it" Y/n smiled at her cousin, when she got older that was the kind of relationship she wanted with her boyfriend. That she could talk with him like he was her best friend but still show affection towards each other. "I think there is someone else that wants to talk to you" Lucas smirked and discreetly pointed at him. Y/n turned around and saw Charlie just smiling at her, he didn't say anything. That was until Adam smacked him lightly on the head and said something Y/n couldn't quite hear. He looked away for a few seconds and Y/n wasn't sure why, but when he turned around again he smiled and walked over. "Sorry about my friends, they can be like that sometimes but they like you very much and they liked you even more when they heard you liked pranking" Charlie said and scratched his neck. Y/n looked at Charlie, there was something different about him "Hey, are you okay?"  Y/n asked, he was taken back by her questions but answered right away "yes, why are you asking?"  He wanted to know the reason, Charlie didn't feel different. "Um, you usually say what's on your mind and you have never been this nervous or shy around me before. Is it because you don't want people to know that we know each other?" Y/n asked and it was probably the reason, it always was. Charlie looked at Y/n with big eyes "no, that has nothing to do with it at all. We met each other at the end of your first year and I am a very straightforward person and I want to spend time with you and get to know you, just as friends" Charlie said
Y/n smiled but inside something broke, all those times he had kissed her on the cheek and talked to her didn't mean anything. But she should have expected it, after all she was just a freak. Y/n stood up "I'm sorry Charlie, but I have to go now. Rose is waiting for me" Y/n had a fake smile plastered on her face when she left and when Y/n was out of sight turned Lucas his attention to Charlie just as his friends did. "I swear, if you don't realise how much you hurt her by saying that, I'm going to knock some bloody sense into you" Lucas snapped while he clenched his fist. Charlie looked at his friends, they were looking at him with disappointment in their eyes. "You messed up big, mate" Adam said in a serious tone. Charlie looked down "I don't get it, she only likes me as a friend so why are you all so mad at me?" He asked
The three boys looked at each other, then laughed "you must be blind, everyone that knows her can see that she likes you" Dean said and that's when Charlie knew he had messed up, especially since Y/n already thought it was a dare. But Charlie was going to fix it, he just had to find Y/n. The bell that rang when class started signalled that it was time for class and that Charlie was too late.
