lowercase intended, i was too lazy.

-------------

it was tuesday and jinyoung was sitting on his usual seat, 3rd row last column, the one nearest to the window where he can see the view of the busy road. he kept looking at the back, waiting for the clock to strike 12. their dismissal was two hours earlier than usual because they were going to have their quarterly exams for the next 3 days.

"one minute left," he whispered to himself. of course he was counting down, but not as excited as usual, knowing he'll have to study all night. jinyoung was one of the top students, if not the top. he's known for having good grades but not the best. he suddenly jolted on his seat when he heard the bell ring, signaling that school was over for that day. lazily, he gathered his things and went straight to his locker to get the books and notebooks he needed for the exams the next day.

"jinyoouuunngg!!!" someone in the corridor shouted, while running towards him. he jokingly rolled his eyes knowing who it was. "hey, do you want to join bambam and i? we'll be studying together at home. he said he needed some help with maths." jinyoung didn't reply for a while, thinking about whether it will be a good idea to 'study' with his friends that night.

"i don't think so, youngjae, i think i'll end up watching some movie if i go with you," he said, giggling at the thought. "i'll be at the cafe though, you know, the usual. i'll be studying there instead" youngjae only nodded in response, jinyoung sensing his disappointment. "don't worry!! let's have a sleepover in my apartment on friday instead!" he said, trying to cheer youngjae up.

"you said it! i'll let bambam know, we'll bring snacks," youngjae replied excitedly. "oh! and tell mark i said hi,"

"sure! i'll be leaving now," jinyoung said while waving goodbye, youngjae only humming while nodding in response.

~~~~~
jinyoung started walking towards the cafe he usually goes to. it takes around 10 minutes before he reaches his destination so he tries to remember the lessons they reviewed in school that day but he didn't remember a single word so he gave up. instead, he started thinking about what would have happened if he studied together with bambam and youngjae, his two bestfriends since first year highschool. the three were inseparable. they were all smart and studious but all have great social lives and have numerous friends. he stopped thinking about his two best friends when he reached the cafe.
"hey jinyoung! the usual?" mark, the cashier which was also his flatmate ever since he moved to seoul to pursue his studies, asked as he entered the cafe. he always went there after school to study for 2-4 hours on regular days and up to 8 hours during exam days so his friend knew what he'd usually order.
"of course, mark," he replied sounding all burned out.
after a few minutes, mark came to jinyoung's usual seat, carefully placing the hot drink on the table. "tired?" he asked while doing so.
"not that tired yet" jinyoung replied while massaging his temples. "oh, and youngjae said hi" jinyoung continued while smiling.
"tell them i miss them!! they should come over soon!" mark replied, smiling widely.
"well they're sleeping over on friday maybe you can join us," mark hummed while nodding in response. "i'll start studying now, go back to work, mork.", jinyoung said jokingly
"fine, sir" mark said, rolling eyes jokingly, walking back to his work area.
~~~~

there were more people in the cafe now, most of them being his schoolmates as it was exam season. he smiled at some of them knowing who they were. the cafe got more crowded and noisy so jinyoung decided to put on his earphones and listen to his favorite songs, all compiled in his spotify playlist. he silently hummed to the song while studying for his math and science exam the next day.

~~~~
it was all crowded and noisy when jaebeom reached the cafe. he opened his phone to see the time '3:24', it read. he was pretty late and wanted  to go home instead because there were so many people but of course he can't just go now, he was too lazy to do so. so, being the anti-social and closed off person he is, he started looking for a vacant table he can have all for himself not wanting to share one with anyone. However, he had no other choice than to sit with a stranger seated at the table at the very most corner of the cafe. he was annoyed that he had to share a table with stranger but he had no other choice so he silently approached the stranger.
noticing that the stranger was wearing earbuds, jaebeom lightly tapped his shoulder to get his attention.
when jinyoung felt a light tap on his right shoulder, he removed one of his ear buds to listen to what the stranger had to say, not bothering to look up as he was too busy trying to understand his not so organized notes.
"is it fine if i sit here?" jaebeom asked softly, pointing at the seat right in front of jinyoung.
"sure," jinyoung replied softly, while nodding his head, but still not looking at jaebeom. 'that voice sounds quite familiar??' he thought, but shrugged it off.
jaebeom started getting his things from his bag to start studying. he was one of those hard working students but always got slightly mediocre grades.
~~~~

jaebeom's been studying for 4 hours now and while reviewing his notes in biology, he suddenly heard someone humming to a certain song. he looked up to see who it was and he was quite surprised to see that is was the person in front of him but he won't complain, it sounded beautiful and quite familiar.

he didn't realize that he was already staring at the features of the person in front of him— his dark brown fluffy hair, brown eyes that seem to be gold as the lights from inside the cafe was softly hitting his face, no too chubby cheeks, a pointed yet slightly rounded nose, soft plump pink lips. he thought the stranger looked like a certain someone but thought that maybe he's just one of those people he saw around school.

'sitting with a complete stranger wasn't so bad after all', he thought to himself. seeing such a beautiful person in front of him made him curious as to who he was. luckily, he saw that one of his textbooks was on the table, closed, and saw the name of the artwork in front of him.

'park jinyoung year 3' he read in his mind 'oh? were both in 3rd year? and why does his name sound so familiar?' jaebeom thought.

jaebeom phone suddenly rang, pretty loud, if you ask him. jinyoung, though he was wearing earphones, heard the phone ringing and got annoyed so he tsked, trying to make this person in front of him realize that he was pretty agitated. jaebeom, immediately picked up the phone, almost as if he was scared of the way jinyoung sounded so annoyed.

"yes, jackson?" jaebeom said in a slightly annoyed tone.

"jb! please go home now! your beloved friend, kim yugyeom from year 2, is starting to act like a child again im tired of him being all childish running around throwing pillows everywhere please jaebeom just go home already" jackson, jaebeom's bestfriend begged.

jaebeom chuckled softy and replied "okay, i'll be home in 30 minutes. im just going to finish up studying"

"oh thank goodness im jaebeom please get ho—" before jackson could finish what he had to say, someone else shouted at the phone, "jackson pabo!!"

jaebeom tried to hold back his laughter, knowing how much of a mess his friends probably were. he ended the call with smile on his face, getting back to where he left off.
