Kabanata 13
Crush
Sir Killian Floirendo may be the most handsome man I've ever seen to date. Intimidating; with his brooding gazes, and more often sullen and serious expressions.
He was the kind you'd be scared to approach, because you know he'd shut you down, without missing a beat. The same type you'd want to win over, even for a night; whilst thinking, you'd probably be the luckiest if he chose you to taste whatever he had.
This was my first time, and probably my only time, making deals with a man so on top of the societal heirarchy; that the frequent goosebumps were beginning to feel normal.
"How old were you when you had your first boyfriend?" he fired, sitting on the sofa with me.
Pumayag naman ako when I realized I haven't watched any movie for almost a year now. And I think he got bored with the film that I picked, so he suggested we ask arbitrary questions in between dull scenes. Anything on top of our head daw.
But here he goes, already asking me something personal on our first run.
"Third year highschool?" sagot ko, medyo napaisip. "Yeah, I think third year highschool kami noon..."
"Third year highschool?" asik niya, tila hindi makapaniwala. "You were 15!"
I raised an eyebrow.
"Judgemental ka?"
Pinaningkitan niya ako.
Ningisihan ko naman siya.
"How long did you two date then?" he prodded.
"I don't really know," I laughed at a memory. "We were only in a relationship, because he randomly told me to."
"Randomly?"
"Yeah," I shrugged. "I lost on our rock-paper-scissors game, kaya ayon. He told me na kami na, and announced it, kaya wala naman akong magawa."
"What?" he looked at me, bewildered. "Are you serious? What..."
"You're kidding, right?" alanganin niyang tanong, regarding me cautiously.
"Grabe, ang judgemental talaga!" nangingiti kong irap sa kanya. "Okay, now it's my turn—"
"No, you need to answer me honestly first," mariin niyang sabi. "C'mon, you can't be that easy!"
"Why not?" I frowned. "I gave you my virginity when I do not even know you. Tapos I keep on letting you touch me despite you being my boss."
I pointed at him.
His glare only grew dangerous by the minute.
"How can I not be that easy?" ako.
"This one's different!" giit niya pa.
"True," tumango ako. "This one's worse pa nga."
He glared at me.
"I don't like this game anymore," he grumbled and twisted himself at doon na sa telebisyon humarap.
