Slowly my eyes shifted open with the sun shining on my face. Its warmth welcomed me as I began to sit up from my bed. I blinked a few times letting my colored eyes adjust to the light. Once they did, I looked over to my alarm clock, seeing that it was 6:48 a.m. I sighed and let out a small yawn.

I pulled off my covers and began to stretch my arms into the air, letting another yawn escape my mouth. I then tiredly crawled out my bed and allowed my bare feet to touch the ground. I flinched at the cool wooden touch but slowly made it to my feet.

I walked over to my closet and opened it. I then started to look through my clothes, trying to find my normal outfit (Kody's original clothing) before I noticed it folded on one of the shelves. I swiftly grabbed it and began to get dressed for the day.

Once I had finally gotten ready I headed out of my bedroom, slowly closing the door behind me. I heard the door click shut before I began to walk over to Kody's room. As I approached his room I couldn't help but notice a small humming noise coming from inside. Hesitantly I placed my hand on the door nob before opening the door. I entered Kody's room cautiously and looked around trying to find the source of the noise.

Slowly my eyes landed on Kody's bedside table. There I noticed an alarm clock impatiently buzzing for someone to awaken to its call. I shifted my eyes over to Kody, finding him peacefully sleeping. I felt a small smile tug on my lips as I had realized that Kody had some sort of ear muffs hovering over his head. Classic Kody. I guess it's time to wake him up. I thought to myself.

I carefully removed the ear muffs and grabbed his blanket gently, before shouting,

"Kody! Wake up!"

I heard him grumble something under his breath but he didn't move. I then began to tug on his blanket a bit more and shouted again.

"Kody! Wake up! Or else we're going to be late!"

"That's the point." He growled still in his bed.

"But what about-" I was then cut off, due to Kody letting go of his blanket. I fell backward and landed with a thud. "Stop doing that!" I yelped.

Kody sighed before replying "It's your fault for doing it in the first place." He then finally sat up and tiredly glared down at me. I sighed in defeat and rose back to my feet.

"I'll see you downstairs," I said with a smile.

He didn't reply, so I took it as my cue to leave his room. I made my way out and started to head towards the stairs, which lead me into the kitchen. The smell of pancakes filled the room, making my mouth water.

"Good morning Lumine!" Adien greeted me brightly.

I smiled and replied, "Good morning Adien."

"Where's Kody?"

"Oh, Kody... He's getting ready." I said simply.

We sat in silence for a moment before realizing Kody was standing beside the table.

"Ah! Good morning Kody! Ready for school?" Adien said with an amused look.

"Sure, whatever," Kody grumbled.

As Adien started a conversation Kody and I began to eat our breakfast. He told us a few stories about his work, however, Sherry called him over and she didn't seem to be in a good mood. He smiled and excused himself from the table. I nodded with simple understanding and watched as he left the room.

I then quickly turned my attention to Kody. He seemed a bit distracted as he began to play with his food. I studied him for a moment but realized, he had caught me staring at him. As I met his gaze I held it, before smiling. His annoyed expression changed and his face became red, but I hardly noticed as he turned away quickly. I was about to ask him something but he suddenly stood up and hurriedly grabbed his bag.

"E-eh! Kody wait!" I shouted.

I then quickly got up and ran after him. He was headed towards the door and I caught up to him. He seemed to be back to normal, and his facial expression was sour though. It didn't bother me much since I sorta got used to his random mood swings, but something seemed off.

We started to walk towards the bus stop in silence. I kept glancing at him trying to understand why he was upset but he was hard to read.

This continued the whole way to the bus stop but Kody didn't seem to notice. It felt like hours had passed before the small bus had finally stopped in front of us. I opened my mouth to say something but the bus doors began to hiss open. Kody was the first one on showing off his small green pass. Shortly after I followed.

As I entered the bus I found Kody setting in the back looking out the window. I then quietly sat down next to him. Then as the bus started to move, I had finally found the words I wanted to say.

"Hey, Kody?"

He hesitantly looked toward my direction, "What do you want?" He growled.

"I just wanted to ask...are you alright? You seemed distracted earlier." I said softly.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Why wouldn't I be?"

"It's just...you never tell me what's wrong. I just wanted to help."

"I don't need helping, nor do I need you in my business." He said coldly.

I sighed and lend my head back on the cushioned seat. Why does he have to be this way? I thought to myself sorrowfully.
