Words cannot even express how much I love this story and all five of its sequels.
This is the only historical fiction book I've read on wattpad, and trust me it does not disappoint. I really love the main characters Lilly Linton and Rikkard Ambrose. Lilly is not even close to being a cliché girl.
The book takes place in the 1800s. Just to sum things up, this feminist 19 year old, Lilly, wants to be independent from all these stuck-up, toxic men. But that's kinda hard to do when women aren't even allowed to vote. So what does she do? Dress up as a man, of course. But who would've known that in doing so, she would've gotten a job from the richest, chauvinistic man in the British Empire...
I highly recommend this book and its sequels if you like independent, feminist main characters, chauvinistic son of bachelors, and turban-wearing, sabre-swinging bodyguards. Also the humour in this is just amazing and natural.
This book is my favorite book so far. You will fall in love with this book starting from Chapter One. Honestly, if you haven't read it yet, stop reading this review and go read it right now.
PS: it literally took the main characters 2 books to even kiss, so yea, this is a slow-paced book. But it's 100% worth it.
