By Happenstances
On rainy Sundays, I think of Daniel and how we met. We started because of a coincidence, just like any typical, cliche romance story. Lahat naman ganun eh. And isn't that the scariest and most beautiful part about it?
What if hindi umulan 'nung araw na 'ýun?What if he felt too lazy to go to school that day? Tamad pa naman 'yun? What if I didn't bring my umbrella 'nung araw na ýun? Makakalimutin pa naman ako. So many what ifs. Pero, that's the thing. None of these complications happened.
One a rainy day, everything fell into place.

I woke up three hours before my first class. At first, akala ko it was the middle of the night pa. Wala lang. Parang ang dilim kasi masyado. Then I heard thunder. Napamura na ako dun. Sure enough, when I opened the window, ang lakas ng buhos ng ulan. Geez, this will not bid well for me.
Without further ado, I began to get ready for school. Unfortunately for me, I'm in college which means that suspensions don't usually cover us. That's the weird problem here. Waterproof ba kami?
"Cass, what are you doing up so early?" tanong ng dorm mate ko. "It's literally four in the morning."
"Umuulan kasi, Ate Mella." sabi ko while buttoning up my uniform. "I don't want to get stuck in traffic with this rain. Knowing my luck, baka ma-late pa ako."
"Ugh, kung ako sa ýo, di na ako papasok." she said with a concerned look on her face. "Baka maaksidente ka pa niyan."
"Can't skip eh. We have a long exam on Anatomy." I winced. Hindi pa ako nagrereview. Oh well, I'll do it on the train.
That's the first puzzle piece.
On the other hand, one hour later pa nagising si Daniel. He lived in a condo across the university kasi rich kid ang gagong ýun. And, after looking at his window and realizing that it was raining heavily, tumunganga siya for thirty minutes, just contemplating wether it was worth it or not. Tamad kasi, gaya ng sabi ko kanina. And just when he was about to sleep again, tumawag ang mommy niya.
"Daniel Gabriel Martin" his mom said. "Are you at school yet?"
"No, mom." He said. "I might just sleep in today. It's raining outside. We probably won't do anything important today anyway."
"Have you gone crazy, Daniel? Do you know how much money we spent just to send you to that university?" Nagsimula nang magsermon ang mommy nya kaya bumangon siya. "Do you want me to drag you back here to Europe---"
"Ugh, okay, mom. I'm going na. Bye."
That was the second puzzle piece.
At that moment, I was in the train, fortunately nakaupo, reading my notes. The train was extra slow pero after forever, the train arrived. Finally, I got off. Then I sighed then looked after looking at my watch. Well, I still had thirty minutes to go. Pwede pa sigurong dumaan sa fast food to grab a quick breakfast para naman hindi ako mahilo later. I did that, without knowing that it would lead me to him.
